Much like the Carly Simon hit song, some members of the American press are so vain that they think everything is about them.
White House counselor Kellyanne Conway commented on people being “obsessed” with President Donald Trump while referencing former CIA Director John Brennan, and her remark was then spun as her directing this at the White House press corp.
Brennan, now an unhinged MSNBC contributor who spends his days trashing the president, ripped Trump in a New York Times op-ed after the White House stripped him of his security clearance, saying that Trump’s claim that he did not collude with Russia was “hogwash.”
“Why is everybody so obsessed with the President of the United States that they can’t even begin or finish a sentence without mentioning his name 5 times?” asked Conway. “It’s kind of weird.”
“And it’s infecting people on the news now who fancy themselves security experts,” she added.
Conway said this as she pointed to Senate Intelligence Committee chairman Richard Burr, R-N.C, who said if Brennan knew Trump was colluding with Russia, why wasn’t that information shared with special Counsel Robert Mueller.

By and large Conway’s comments were reported as being directed at the media:

After yet another collective meltdown, Conway took to Twitter to break the bad news to the press that not everything is about them as she clarified what seemed apparent.
“May hurt feelings or come as shock, but not everything is about the media,” Conway said in the tweet. “Was talking about Cuomo & was asked questions about Brennan, et. al. Cuomo raised @realDonaldTrump at women & girls event in NY Brennan can write/talk intel/natsec but obsessively talks Trump.”

CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins responded to say she knew Conway was talking about Brennan, but essentially justified the obsession with Trump when she said people talk about him because “he’s the president.”
I know you were talking about Brennan and not the media. But I think it’s an unusual argument to make that people — former CIA directors, New York politicians, anyone — shouldn’t be talking about the president as much as they do. He’s the president. https://t.co/ppXOUmncAJ

This coming two hours after she suggested that Conway WAS talking about the press.
Yea why are we talking about the leader of the free world so much? https://t.co/YPwP6cX7WA
