President Donald Trump responded to the news Monday that FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok was fired, tweeting “finally” as he questioned whether the Russian collusion investigation will now be dropped — albeit in his own colorful way.
“Agent Peter Strzok was just fired from the FBI – finally,” the president tweeted. “The list of bad players in the FBI & DOJ gets longer & longer. Based on the fact that Strzok was in charge of the Witch Hunt, will it be dropped? It is a total Hoax. No Collusion, No Obstruction – I just fight back!”

Strzok, who was involved in an extramarital affair with FBI attorney Lisa Page, was removed from the investigation by special Counsel Robert Mueller, along with Page, after anti-Trump text messages were discovered between the two.
One such exchange mentioned an “insurance policy” against Trump being elected president, and another featuring Strzok saying, “We’ll stop it.”
The agent later testified before Congress that his bias did not cloud his judgement as an FBI agent.
In addition to the Mueller probe being dropped, Trump also said the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s private email server should be reopened — Strzok also oversaw this probe.
“Just fired Agent Strzok, formerly of the FBI, was in charge of the Crooked Hillary Clinton sham investigation. It was a total fraud on the American public and should be properly redone!” Trump said in a second tweet.

Meanwhile, you can expect the media to be all over Strzok’s termination and the fact that it was a departure from established practice, according to Strzok’s lawyer, Aitan Goelman.
JUST IN: FBI special agent Peter Strzok fired in what his attorney calls a "departure from typical Bureau practice."

Conspiracy theories are already flowing from the Trump Derangement Syndrome Crowd:

Not that there wasn’t plenty of support on the right for the agent being canned:
The firing of anti-Trump FBI agent Peter Strzok is welcome, if overdue. By exhibiting such rampant bias, Strzok did enormous damage to the FBI and to the country.

PETER STRZOK finally fired over anti trump texts. It took this long? Who’s running the place? #alittlelate #outrage

Finally, belatedly Peter Strok gets the axe. I hope this is the beginning of a much larger cleanup at FBI and DOJ https://t.co/bD4p6pCi7q

Finally — FBI fires Peter Strzok, whose sent anti-Trump texts to his girlfriend Lisa Page on his government cell phone. Should have happened a long time ago!

Dear @washingtonpost The headline makes it sound like #PeterStrzok was fired for simple anti #DonaldTrump texts. The body however admits the IG concluded his views affected his work. https://t.co/I3MlSu6cUM

And you just know this social media user is spot on in his analysis that CNN and MSNBC “are already in a bidding war” for Strzok’s next job.

Here’s more of the meltdown from the Trump resistance from Twitter:
If you work for the government & text your girlfriend you don't like Trump you now get FIRED like Peter Strzok
But if you tweet that an entire continent is a “shithole” while spreading 5 billion LIES to the American people you still remain the President
Retweet if this is wrong

Now you can add Peter Strzok to the politically motivated firings of officials who spoke out about Trump's corruption and illicit dealings with Russia.
This is a slow-motion purge and it will not spare anyone outside Trump's inner circle, which will become smaller over time.

It is deeply troubling! No reason to fire him, he was already demoted. Guess someone got their knickers in a twist, because he didn’t take their bullshit at the hearing. Fun fact: All the gop friendly agents are still working there.

I heard his testimony and I know he is a patriot. There was nothing in what he did that justified firing. The triator sits in the oval office!
