‘Good Times’ star Jimmie Walker won’t mock Trump for good reason and he has best advice ever for Dems

Comedian Jimmie Walker is more interested in making people laugh than in taking cheap shots at President Donald Trump like his Hollywood colleagues.

The 71-year-old, who played James “J.J.” Evans in the sitcom “Good Times” which aired from 1974 until 1979, has stayed relatively clear of the Trump-bashing train many celebrities have been on since the election.

“I take him on a case-by-case basis,” he said, according to Fox News.

“And I think… a lot of people thought Hillary [Clinton] was going to win and they just haven’t gotten over it,” he added. “Trump is correct, there is fake news out there. CNN and MSNBC have said Trump can’t win. But people in America love Trump. It’s just the big cities that hate him. They’re the ones that haven’t gotten over it.”

Walker thinks it’s high time Democrats move on.

“What they should be doing, the Democrats, is saying, ‘You know, we hated that we lost this. So we need to get a candidate right now and get ready for 2020.’ You didn’t make it, it’s over. Let it go,” he said.

Walker, who has been doing standup comedy since 1968, is eager to get back to what he loves and is launching a new standup special called “We’re Still Here” with Michael Winslow.

“It’s good that anyone remembers anything you’ve done,” he said. “That’s better than nothing. That’s the way I look at it. [But] I’m basically a comic. That’s really what I do.”

As a comic, Walker noted he has “been around long enough to see people come and go” but admitted that comedy in today’s society is especially challenging.

“I think comedy is very divided now,” he told Fox News. “With the emphasis being divided racially.”

“When I started, I was told you have to make everyone laugh. You’ve got to be universal,” Walker added. “But I think those days are over.”
