Sen. Kamala Harris is demanding that officials track sexual preferences and gender in the U.S. Census but not count the number of citizens and immigrants.
The California Democrat and others in her party are advocating for tracking the number of gays and of “transgender” people but are opposed to the counting of citizens and immigrants – legal or illegal – in the 2020 Census.
The Trump administration’s December 2017 plan to count citizens and non-citizens has been criticized by Harris and other Democrats who contend that immigrants will be afraid to answer the question.
Asking a citizenship question on the 2020 census would hinder a full and accurate count of the U.S. population, and likely result in under-counted communities. You have a chance to speak out about this. Submit your public comment today: https://t.co/gV9cnJYP8s

Progressives like Vanita Gupta, back Harris’ sentiments, declaring in a New York Times op-ed that the census and other “core functions of our democracy” are being “weaponized for a partisan agenda, an agenda born out of deep anti-immigrant, anti-people-of-color sentiment.”
Gupta, former President Barack Obama’s director of civic regulation in the Department of Justice, said people calling for a citizenship count are “trying to fundamentally change what this country is, and aspires to be, by creating different classes of people — including people who may actually be here legally but who are rendered invisible for political representation purposes, as well as for the purposes of being part of the community and sharing in police, health care, hospitals, schools and the like.”
But knowing how many people consider themselves gay or transgender is an important figure according to Harris and her cohorts.
The “Census Equality Act” was introduced by Harris and co-sponsored by 19 other Democratic Senators last month and seeks to have the census take a count of those who are gay and people trying to live as members of the opposite sex.
The Census Equality Act would help ensure that resources such as Medicaid and SNAP fully cover the LGBTQ community. https://t.co/0hMuiCEZH7

According to Breitbart News:
Advocates for transgenderism claim roughly 0.6 percent of Americans want to live as members of the opposite sex. However, a study of the 2010 Census reported that only one in every 2,400 Americans has changed their name from one sex to another. That small fraction is just 0.04 percent of adults. The fight over numbers is politically important because progressive advocates are trying to persuade judges to establish the transgender ideology, which says that government and society must suppress any legal and civic recognition that men and women, girls and boys, are both different and complementary, as well as equal.
Harris declared in a tweet last week that American identity is not found in citizenship but rather in “sexual orientation.”
We won’t be silent about race. We won’t be silent about sexual orientation. We won’t be silent about immigrants rights. These are the very issues that define our identity as Americans.https://t.co/KBRJ5aGYlr

Americans’ disagreement with the transgender ideology of progressives is a matter of national security for Harris.
Racism, sexism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, and transphobia are real in this country. The Russians know that — they attacked us demographically and geographically. And they’re still trying to divide us and conquer. This is an urgent national security threat.
