Carrie Underwood angers fans with comments about fertility, but it says more about them than her

In the post-Obama “age of outrage,” it doesn’t take much to offend hypersensitive folks, as seen when beloved country music star Carrie Underwood made a comment that was perceived to be about fertility.

In an interview with Redbook magazine, the recording artist opened up about having “missed our chance to have a big family.”

“I’m 35, so we may have missed our chance to have a big family,” Underwood said. “We always talk about adoption and about doing it when our child or children are a little older.”

Underwood has a 3-year-old son, Isaiah Michael, with husband Mike Fisher.

With a limited grasp on the facts, people jumped in with both feet — another staple of life in America in the 21st century — to criticize Underwood for saying she was too old to have a child and to offer unsolicited advice on family planning.

But a careful glance at Underwood’s remarks shows that she never said a woman cannot have a baby at 35, she said it was too late to “have a big family.”

A bit of a difference, as more rational-minded social media users pointed out.

One thing is certain, Underwood is certainly in good health:
