Trump looks on as black pastor boldly declares him ‘most pro-black president’ in our lifetimes

During a roundtable discussion Wednesday at the White House about prison reform, one attendee vociferously praised President Donald Trump, describing him as possibly the “most pro-black president” he’d seen in his lifetime. More-so even than America’s first black president, Barack Obama.

“This administration has taken a lot of people by surprise. And it’s going to surprise you guys even more, because this is probably the most proactive administration regarding urban America and the faith-based community in my lifetime. And I’ll be 60 years old in December,” Pastor Darrel Scott proudly said during the hearing Wednesday.

A current member of the National Diversity Coalition for Trump, the pastor previously served on the president’s transition team, where he earned a reputation for fiercely defending Trump.

“[T]o be honest, this is probably going to be the — and I’m going to say this at this table — the most pro-black President that we’ve had in our lifetime because — and I try to, you know, analyze the people that I encounter. This President actually wants to prove something to our community, our faith-based community and our ethnic community,” Scott added.

He wasn’t wrong. Since stepping into office in January of 2017, the president has repeatedly sought to cater to the black community, going out of his way to offer them as much help and assistance as the government could spare.

He pardoned a 62-year-old black grandmother who’d been  serving a life sentence for nonviolent drug-related offenses. He signed an executive order that moved the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities from the Department of Education back to the White House to strengthen the office. And he of course helped spur a dramatic drop in black unemployment via deregulation and tax cuts. All this is why his support among blacks has soared, not dropped.

After praising Trump, Pastor Scott then turned his attention to Obama, noting that the former president “didn’t feel like he had to” even make an effort to help his own communty.

“He felt like he didn’t have to prove it. He got a pass,” Scott said. “This President is — this administration is probably going to be more proactive regarding urban revitalization and prison reform than any President in your lifetime.”

Scott isn’t the only one who feels this way about Obama. The pastor then concluded his speech by urging others to give Trump a chance.

“[G]ive him a chance. Don’t pay any attention to these guys back here,” he said, pointing to the media. “And I’ll promise you, we will do something that — we will — this administration will continue to make history. It’s going to be a lot of positive changes. Great things are on the horizon, I promise.”

As of early July, there was no reason on Earth to disbelieve the pastor. None at all.
