Activists formally file to have Trump International Hotel liquor license revoked based on DC laws

A group of left-wing radicals in Washington, D.C., who clearly have nothing better to do with their lives have reportedly filed a formal complaint demanding that the liquor license for one of President Donald Trump’s DC establishments be rescinded.

As if the Trump International Hotel doesn’t already have enough to deal with, what with the constant left-wing protests that occur outside its front doors.

According to the zealots’ complaint, the president’s alleged “long history of telling lies” and alleged “failure to abide by the law and to repudiate associations with known criminals” are grounds for the hotel’s license to be cancelled.

As stupid as this sounds, the complaint actually carries some legal weight because of local licensing laws, which state that a potential licensee must be “of good character and generally fit for the responsibilities of licensure.”

“What the complaint says is the owner of the Trump International Hotel doesn’t meet that definition, and so ABRA, the Alcohol Beverage Regulatory Administration, should take action,” one of the left-wing activists, Zach Teutsch, said to Fox News.

Teutsch is a member of the D.C. Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC 4C), which formally joined the complaint this week. The Washington Post notes that a local group of religious and judicial leaders originally filed the complaint in June. Several weeks later in early July, ANC 4C voted to back it as well.

Listen to Teutsch’s remarks below:

After ANC 4C voted to join the complaint, chairman Bennett Hilley and vice chair Charlotte Nugent wrote in a letter to ABRA penning out their argument.

“It is our considered view that Donald Trump, the true and actual owner of the Trump International Hotel, is not a person of good character, doesn’t meet the D.C. Code … requirements and therefore the license should be revoked,” they wrote.

There are a couple problems, though. According to a statement given to The Washington Post by ABRA spokesman Max Bluestein, ANC 4C is about three miles from Trump’s hotel. This is problematic because a neighborhood commission must lie within 600 feet of a business to file a complaint against it. Whoops.

“What’s more, an official protest can be filed only when a liquor license is first being considered by the ABC board or when it’s up for renewal, which in the case of the Trump hotel will be in 2019,” further notes the Post.

Whoops again.

What’s funny is that when Fox News asked Teutsch whether ANC 4C’s involvement in this complaint is based on politics, he replied, “No, I don’t think so.”

Oh really? Then care to explain this tweet?
