War heroes who earned the Purple Heart award after being wounded in combat are slamming Democratic congressman Steve Cohen for flippantly saying that disgraced FBI official Peter Strzok “deserves a Purple Heart” simply for answering questions about his text messages to his mistress.
Retired Marine Staff Sargeant Johnny “Joey” Jones was outraged by Cohen’s shocking attempt to elevate an FBI officer who embarrassed himself, his wife, and the FBI after sending 50,000 anti-Trump texts to his lover on taxpayers’ dime while trying to undermine a duly-elected United States president. There’s nothing heroic about that.
As BizPac Review previously reported, Cohen valiantly defended Strzok during a routine line of questioning at last week’s congressional hearing by declaring, “If I could give you a Purple Heart, I would.”
Jones said he couldn’t believe his ears when he heard Cohen say that. The Purple Heart is a military honor awarded to soldiers who are wounded or killed in combat by an enemy of the United States.
“To say that that deserves a medal — and not only a medal, but in my opinion the highest honor — is absolutely ridiculous,” Jones told Fox News. “It’s disgusting.”

Joey Jones is a Purple Heart recipient who lost both his legs and suffered permanent damage to his right forearm and both wrists in a 2010 IED explosion in Afghanistan.
Jones said suggesting that Peter Strzok — a self-admitted liar and cheater who was demoted for his unprofessional work conduct — is an insult to all the brave military war veterans who got injured or killed while fighting for their country.
Jones pointed out that Congressman Steve Jones’ comments betray his ignorance of what the Purple Heart is about and also underscored his extreme partisan bias.
“What this congressman did — and he probably doesn’t even understand it — is he equated Republicans or the actual looking-for-of-truth to an enemy attacking this man,” said Jones, who pointed out that Strzok brought his problems onto himself.

Joey Jones joins a growing chorus of other American military war heroes who are disgusted by the Democratic lawmaker’s rhetoric, which trivializes the heroic actions of real-life Purple Heart recipients.
Army veteran Darien Price, a Purple Heart recipient who lives in Congressman Steve Cohen’s home state of Tennessee, said he was “blown away” when he heard the flippant comments.
“It was like a big slap in the face,” Price told the Tennessean. “It is disrespectful to those alive who wear the Purple Heart, but especially to families who lost loved ones to who fought for this country.”
Sean Higgins, an Air Force veteran who also lives in Tennessee, is planning a march to protest Cohen and to raise awareness of the ongoing problems in the Veterans Administration which festered during Barack Obama’s presidency.
In response to the backlash, Congressman Cohen backpedaled on his remarks on Twitter:
“I regret mentioning the Purple Heart medal at yesterday’s hearing. My intent was to speak metaphorically to make a broader point about attacks against the FBI and Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation into a Russian attack on our country.
“I have nothing but the highest respect for members of the armed forces, especially those who have been awarded Purple Hearts, as well as the hard working men and women at the FBI. We are safe because of their service and sacrifice.”
I regret mentioning the Purple Heart medal at yesterday's hearing. My intent was to speak metaphorically&make a broader point re:attacks on Mueller's investigation into attacks on our country, but I've heard from vets & their families–wrong choice of words.https://t.co/FsEuSLjIwd

Peter Strzok’s angry and defiant attitude during his congressional hearing has made him a viral Internet sensation who spawned countless memes mocking his bizarre facial expressions.
For conservatives, the disgraced Strzok is the gift that keeps on giving, as BizPac Review has reported.
