Republican lawmakers warned that if former FBI attorney Lisa Page continues to thumb her nose at a Congressional subpoena, they will bring her to Capitol Hill in handcuffs.
Despite a congressional subpoena to appear for a deposition on Wednesday, Page – who exchanged anti-Trump text messages with her lover and former FBI counterintelligence agent, Peter Strzok – refused to comply.
Rep. Lee Zeldin was not buying the excuse by Page’s attorney that she did not have enough time to prepare for questioning and was not allowed to review documents at the FBI on Tuesday.
If it requires handcuffs to get Lisa Page, an employee of the fed govt, to abide by a Congressional subpoena to testify & answer questions then so be it. Working for the FBI is a great privilege, but Page doesn’t become her own branch of govt in charge of her own set of fed laws.

The New York Republican reiterated his strong words later, suggesting Page should be held in contempt and brought to Capitol Hill by force if necessary.
Page’s refusal to testify in Congress shows even more contempt for the American people, accountability & transparency, than it shows contempt of Congress. This former top FBI official & Strzok accomplice should be held in contempt & brought to Capitol Hill by force if necessary.

House Speaker Paul Ryan was “very disturbed” by Page’s refusal to comply, noting that a congressional subpoena like the one issued by the House Judiciary and House Oversight & Government Reform Committees is “not optional.”
Page has an “obligation” to testify, Ryan told reporters Wednesday and said he will hold her in contempt of Congress if she keeps it up.
“She was a part of a mess that they have uncovered over at DOJ. She has an obligation to come testify,” he said.
Page, who resigned from the FBI in May, has volunteered to testify later this month according to her attorney, as long as she has access to certain FBI files and details about the kind of questions she will be asked.
President Trump, on his way to Brussels for the NATO summit, called out Attorney General Jeff Sessions on the issue.
As I head out to a very important NATO meeting, I see that FBI Lover/Agent Lisa Page is dodging a Subpoena & is refusing to show up and testify. What can she possibly say about her statements and lies. So much corruption on the other side. Where is the Attorney General? @FoxNews

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte also blasted Page’s decision.
Lisa Page plans to blatantly defy a congressional subpoena by refusing to appear for her deposition. She is a key witness, and it is critical that she come before @HouseJudiciary to answer questions as part of our investigation. It appears she has something to hide.

Ms. Page’s attorney provided a litany of excuses for her failure to appear today, but none of the excuses hold water. https://t.co/OAhsovVjff

“This is a very serious matter. This subpoena is still in effect,” Goodlatte said on “Outnumbered Overtime” on Wednesday.
“I think it’s very important for her to understand that. And she should comply with it and she should comply with it now, before she’s held in contempt of Congress,” he said.
