Conspiracy theorists are working overtime speculating about potentially nefarious doings following the death of the nephew of Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio.
Eli Stickley, 21, died in a traffic accident Thursday night in Illinois, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Sticker was a former state high school wrestling champion in Ohio in 2014 and was attending the University of Wisconsin, where his uncle, a three-time All-American, won two national championships in wrestling.
The college shared a statement on Facebook:
“Our hearts are heavy today. The entire Badger Athletics family extends its most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of junior Eli Stickley, a student-athlete with our wrestling team, who passed away last night. Our thoughts and prayers are with Eli’s family, friends, teammates and coaches.”
The tragic news comes amid conspicuously timed claims that Jordan knew about alleged sexual abuse by an athletic doctor while he was an assistant coach on the University of Ohio wrestling team three decades ago.
Conspicuous in that with Speaker Paul Ryan announcing his retirement, Jordan, a leading member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, is among those being looked at as a possible replacement.
Jordan told Fox News’s Bret Baier on Friday that the allegations are “false,” calling the timing of the claims “suspect.”
With all the apparent shenanigans going on in the Justice Department and the FBI in opposition to then-candidate Donald Trump still fresh in people’s minds, it didn’t require much effort for folks to look suspiciously upon the death of Jordan’s nephew.
Here’s a sampling of responses from those who may have a little too much time on their hands ( and are also spelling-challenged, apparently). Remember, when the walls start closing in, a relaxing walk in the fresh air can do wonders.

I'd like to start a new conspiracy theory for conservatives. Jim Jordon's nephew's death came at a very ironic time. With that in mind, please say prayer for the family and hope that they find out HOW it happened. Godspeed Jordons

I hope there is a thorough investigation b/c the deep stat ..”can get you every which by Sunday” per Sen. Schumer. Coincidence? I think it’s worth a more thorough investigation quickly by outside private firm. Remember Justice Scalia. #DeepState #Badgers https://t.co/zF2js3oNDE
