President Trump and first lady Melania Trump celebrated the nation’s birthday in patriotic style, sharing pictures with the nation of some of the day’s highlights.

“Happy Birthday, America!” the president tweeted Wednesday, sharing photos of himself, the First Lady, and their Independence Day celebration at the White House.

The photos captured the First couple watching the fireworks display.
And another during the fireworks showed the crowd gathered outside of the White House to watch the aerial display.
Trump also included a photo of military members holding the military branch flags as well as the band on stage in front of the White House.
The president issued a special statement for the nation, recalling its founding earned by the “blood and sweat and sacrifice of American heroes.”

Trump called attention to “every veteran and member of the United States Armed Forces.”
“We are in awe of their courage and we are eternally in their debt,” he said.

The White House had announced the president’s plans for the celebrations last month, noting that he and the first lady would be “welcoming military families to the South Lawn for an afternoon picnic. In the evening, staff and guests will join the military families to enjoy the traditional fireworks display provided by the National Park Service.”

Earlier in the day Wednesday, Trump tweeted “Happy Fourth of July….Our Country is doing GREAT!”

The first lady also shared a message on Twitter.

Entertainment appearing at the 90-minute White House event which was aired on the Hallmark Channel included former “American Idol” finalists Jonny Brenns and Jax, singer Sara Evans and pianist Lola Astanova.

The president gave a short speech ahead of the picnic celebrating military families.

He also took time along with Melania to meet with some of the families.

Others joined in with their holiday wishes, including Vice President Mike Pence and Donald Trump Jr. who included new girlfriend, Fox News’ Kimberly Guilfoyle, in his photos.
