The shooter who murdered five employees of the Capital Gazette newspaper in Annapolis has been identified as Jarrod Ramos, a 38-year-old Maryland resident who had a longstanding vendetta against the paper.
The facts contradict the irresponsible speculation of many liberal media figures, who immediately blamed President Trump for the shooting before the facts emerged.
Ramos was reportedly furious after the Capital Gazette published an article about him in 2011 that chronicled his guilty plea to criminal harassment of a former high school classmate, who pressed charges for stalking and threatening her.
Ramos filed a defamation lawsuit against the Gazette in 2012, which was dismissed in 2015. He had a personal vendetta against the newspaper since then, and repeatedly trashed and threatened the paper’s editors and reporters on social media through a fake Twitter account.
Ironically, Eric Hartley — the reporter who wrote the 2011 story about Ramos — left the newspaper years ago, but Ramos continued to target the paper.
The victims have been identified as assistant managing editor Rob Hiaasen, 59; editorial page editor Gerald Fischman, 61; senior writer John McNamara, 56; community news reporter Wendi Winters, 64; and sales assistant Rebecca Smith, 34, the Capital Gazette reported.
Ramos reportedly mutilated his fingers before the shooting to conceal his identity, but police were able to identify him using facial recognition technology.
While the Annapolis massacre was tragic, almost as disturbing was the knee-jerk reaction of many liberal “journalists,” who immediately blamed President Trump for the senseless murders.
A motley crew of self-proclaimed “journalists” said Trump’s criticism of the repeated, debunked fake news stories about him incited Ramos. Never mind that Ramos’ personal vendetta against the Gazette was not politically motivated and had nothing to do with Trump.
Lauren Duca, a former writer for Teen Vogue, opportunistically used the massacre to trash President Trump.
The shooting today in the Capital Gazette newsroom in Annapolis, Maryland cannot reasonably be separated from the President's mission to villainize the press as "the enemy of the American people."

We do not know the suspect or motive for the mass shooting in an Annapolis newspaper office.
That said, the White House rhetoric labeling the press the "enemy of the people" is extremely dangerous, regardless of whether there turns out to be any tie to this incident.

For the record, TWO people (not 20) were injured, despite the fake-news tweet by Kaivan Shroff below, which he has still not deleted.
Reach of the century from this rabid Trump-hater who’s obsessed with POTUS and tweets about him around the clock:
For the record, Bill Palmer and his Palmer Report have been slammed by liberal media for its reckless rumor-mongering.
Business Insider described Bill Palmer as “a mysterious figure who is behind several shuttered publications and has made enemies online as he threatens and intimidates those who question his reporting.”
The Atlantic called the Palmer Report “the publication of record for anti-Trump conspiracy nuts who don’t care about the credibility of the record.”
Meanwhile, several responsible journalists tweeted that the incident had no connection to President Trump.
There doesn't appear to be a connection to Trump's rhetoric based on what's available online by the Capital Gazette shooting suspect. His bizarre feud with the paper goes back to at least 2011.

The alleged shooter had a deranged, obsessive grudge with this particular newspaper dating back years. Condolences to everyone desperately disappointed to find that they can’t connect this to their favorite national political narrative. You’ll have to wait till the next shooting

Shooter with raging partisan activism tries pick off Republicans playing baseball?
Media: “Sick, lone wolf!”
Shooter tries to pick off journalists after a long-standing, personal, well- documented history of obsession and harassment?
Media: “Trump created this culture!”
