Angel Moms defend Trump: Lucky parents separated 5, 10 days, we’re separated by a coffin and 6 feet of dirt

President Trump met with parents who have had their children killed by illegal immigrants and blasted the media for their double standard in ignoring them.

Angel families joined Trump and Vice President Pence for a White House event Friday honoring those who have “permanently” been separated from loved ones due to illegal immigrants.

“These are the American citizens permanently separated from their loved ones. The word you have to think about is ‘permanently,’” Trump said Friday. “Because they were killed by illegal immigrants. These are the families that the media ignores. This is a very unfair situation.”

The event ended a week of heated controversy over the plight of migrant children who are separated from their families when the adults apprehended near the U.S. border await prosecution for choosing to break the law and enter the country illegally.

Trump signed an executive order midweek reversing the policy, which was in place before he took office but came under fire when Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the administration’s zero-tolerance stance. But on Friday, the president denounced the media frenzy over the temporary separation of migrant children from their law-breaking parents while systematically ignoring the pain suffered by Angel families.

“These are the stories that Democrats and people that are weak on immigration, they don’t want to discuss, they don’t want to hear, they don’t want to see, they don’t want to talk about, ” Trump said. “No major networks sent cameras to their homes, or displayed the images of their incredible loved ones across the nightly news.”

“Where is the media outrage over the catch and release policy? Where is the condemnation of Democrats in sanctuary cities that release violent criminals into our communities?” he said, adding that the Angel Families are “brave Americans.”

“Your loss will not have been in vain,” Trump said. “We will secure our borders and we will make sure they are properly taken care of. The word will get out. We’re going to have a safe country.”

Family members held photos of their departed loved ones alongside the president and then shared their stories.

Three Angel Moms spoke out on “The Story with Martha MacCallum” on Fox News Friday, reacting to the meeting with Trump and sharing their personal tragedies.

“The media doesn’t report truthfully what separation of families really is,” Agnes Gibboney said, slamming critics of the administration for upholding immigration law.

“I would like to show what real separation of families is. This is what separates my son and myself … a coffin and six feet of dirt,” the mother said. Gibboney’s son, Ronald Da Silva, was murdered in 2002 in California by an illegal immigrant gang member.

Laura Wilkerson’s son, Joshua, “went to school one day and never came home.”

She spoke on Fox News about her son’s tragic death and had stepped up to the podium at the White House as well.

“Josh was brutally tortured, strangled over and over, set on fire after death. His last hours were brutal. None of our kids had a minute to say goodbye,” Wilkerson said. “We weren’t lucky enough to be separated for five days or 10 days. We are separated permanently.”

When she wants to see her son, “we go to the cemetery,” Wilkerson said at the White House.

“They don’t understand the meaning of suffering,” she told MacCallum on Friday, slamming Trump’s critics. “We will suffer for the rest our life on this earth.”
