All the outrage over being called “fake news” has not led the liberal media to a better journalistic job.
The latest mob attack against President Trump over a controversial family-separating immigration policy has revealed just how knee-jerk many reports and reactions are.

Associated Press newsman Michael Biesecker tweeted a “breaking” story Wednesday of abuses against children in a juvenile detention center in Virginia.
BREAKING @AP: Immigrant children as young as 14 housed at a juvenile detention center in Virginia say they were beaten while handcuffed and locked up for long periods in solitary confinement, left nude and shivering in concrete cells. https://t.co/ffw0bBcYrH
— Michael Biesecker (@mbieseck) June 21, 2018
But the real news was that the linked article was actually about a lawsuit against the Virginia shelter alleging abuses against the children – that happened under former President Obama’s watch.
Um…
…the facility opened in 2007.
And the primary allegations are from…2016.
A year BEFORE Trump became President.
Just pointing this out. https://t.co/Xc9LIfsNCG

According to the AP report:
The complaint filed by the nonprofit Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs recounts the story of an unnamed 17-year-old Mexican citizen apprehended at the southern border. The teen fled an abusive father and violence fueled by drug cartels to seek asylum in the United States in 2015.
After stops at facilities in Texas and New York, he was transferred to Shenandoah in April 2016 and diagnosed during an initial screening by a psychologist with three mental disorders, including depression. Besides weekly sessions speaking with a counselor, the lawsuit alleges the teen has received no further mental health treatment, such as medications that might help regulate his moods and behavior.
Never mind that the dates listed for the alleged incidents all pre-date Trump. The truth hurts the narrative.
The report even cited a separate lawsuit from 2016 — during the Obama administration — in which a guard was fired for allegedly punching two children.
The “breaking” AP story seemed to mirror a similar AP article from last December, referring to the same lawsuit.

As one Twitter user noted, “no one reads the articles” so the fact that the abuses did not just occur will be lost on those who only skim headlines – and have an anti-Trump bent.
Ugh more nonsense. Your article (left) makes it seem like it’s brand new; meanwhile there have already been hearings/conferences pic.twitter.com/rUO6XTaDRR

This is why the media is the worst. This guy tweets this headline and of course it gets picked up. The allegations are horrific. However, no one reads the articles so it will be completely lost that it’s not something that just happened pic.twitter.com/yaMfZZVOVk

Blue-checks on Twitter were aghast at the Trump administration horrors – but not one, including so-called professional journalists – appeared to have read the actual article in which every date mentioned falls under Obama’s tenure.
This is what happens when your entire political narrative is grounded in the idea that some lives are worth more than others. It always led here, to brown kids in shackles.
This is America now. This is who we are. Don’t look away. https://t.co/lyJ504hZbR

And of course, they’re torturing the kids too. https://t.co/99YPqCLhCt

This is not over by a longshot. https://t.co/1nd2NboquV

It seems unlikely Kathy Griffin was properly directing her question to the former president.
What the fuck is going on?!? https://t.co/cCHliG7qWM
— Kathy Griffin (@kathygriffin) June 21, 2018
MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell compared the detention center to the Iraq War’s infamous Abu Ghraib prison.
The spirit of Abu Ghraib lives. In Virginia. https://t.co/zVo4ZT5KfF

And if even journalism professors are not reading the articles, there is little left to say about the future of the media amid the onslaught of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

fuck impeachment. this motherfucker should be locked up for life. https://t.co/vX6YevImK5

The date makes a difference because the article mentions Trump 5 times and mentions the sitting president at the time of the atrocities 0 times.
Is it surprising? no.

But…but…but…don’t screw up the narrative!!!
— Dan Bowen (@ScotchGuyDan) June 21, 2018
Full time job correcting these narratives

So it turns out many of these children were placed there during the Obama administratin. Shamefull.
— Ken Montgomery (@MontgomeryKen) June 21, 2018
How many reporters have tweeted this out…without clearly stating this occurred under Obama’s watch?
I mean, you want to know why journalists are not trusted on the hard stuff? This is why. https://t.co/sC9jpNLc9G

And this doesn’t even discuss the DOZENS of reporters that have RT’d this, without any context or nuance, having THOUSANDS of followers like a post which they’ll never read.
Our media sucks. pic.twitter.com/AaBEgf9Ips

Wow. Another not-scandal from the scandal-free Obama administration.
