Fox News’ Jesse Watters raised the ire of CNN’s Jim Acosta, who called “The Five” co-host a Trump administration “lapdog” because Watters dared call on journalists to set aside their inner-liberal activist and actually do their jobs.
If reporters can’t differentiate between the two, Watters suggested that they should be stripped of their White House press passes.
Watters went off on Playboy correspondent Brian Karem for his emotional eruption at Thursday’s White House press briefing, after the “reporter” asked press secretary Sarah Sanders if she had “empathy” for illegal immigrant children being separated at the border — as Watters noted, children are often used by non-parent migrants to gain entry, or are being trafficked.
“You’re a parent,” Karem cried out, after forcibly interrupting. “Don’t you have any empathy for what these people are going through?”
The daily press briefings have become the battlefield of choice for anti-Trump forces out to destroy President Donald Trump, and Watters didn’t hold back in his criticism of Karem, calling the CNN contributor “an emotional wreck.”
“He embarrassed himself,” Watters declared. “He doesn’t belong in the room. It’s like Acosta. I don’t care if you have opinions like that. Be an analyst. Go debate it on CNN on primetime but don’t pretend to be a non-partisan correspondent and then meltdown like that and embarrass your integrity.”
But Watters wasn’t finished, saying what many Americans think when they watch these press scrums.
“These people don’t belong there. They’re jokes,” he added. “They need to start ripping press passes away. If you’re going to act like a wild animal, you don’t belong there.”
Acosta had a dramatic moment of his own Thursday with Sanders over the issue — perhaps a concerted effort on the left to distract from the damning DOJ inspector general’s report released the same day? — when questioning the administration’s “morals.”
Sanders zinged the CNN reporter for trying to take her words out of context: “That’s not what I said. I know it’s hard for you to understand even short sentences I guess, but please don’t take my words out of context.”
Acosta also attacked Watters on social media.
