GOP demands answers when new Page-Strzok texts reveal they vowed to stop Trump presidency

Disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok assured colleague Lisa Page, the woman he was having an illicit extramarital affair with, that they would stop Donald Trump from becoming president.

That damning assertion was made in a text message included in the DOJ inspector general’s report, according to Bloomberg News White House Correspondent Jennifer Jacobs.

“(Trump’s) not ever going to become president, right? Right?!” Page wrote to Strzok, Jacobs reported.

“No. No he’s not. We’ll stop it,” Strzok reportedly replied.

Jacobs was responding to a tweet from Bloomberg reporter Steven Dennis, who said despite the text exchange, the inspector general “did not find documentary or testimonial evidence that improper considerations, including political bias, directly affected the specific investigative actions we reviewed.”

Jacobs reported that while the inspector general found that fired FBI director James Comey “deviated” from established procedures, damaging the FBI’s image, he wasn’t politically motivated.

Another “extraordinary” tidbit Jacobs reports on is that the inspector general said there was a “troubling lack of any direct, substantive communication” between Comey and Attorney General Loretta Lynch ahead of the July press conference where Comey announced that he did not recommend any charges against Hillary Clinton.

Social media user John Huber tweeted someone in the DOJ/FBI “almost certainly *deliberately* hid an incredibly partisan [Strzok] text message from the IG, Congress & the public.”

An observation that lead to this question from the Catholic Herald’s Sohrab Ahmari.

“How is it that Lisa Page’s question (“Trump’s not going to become president, right?”) was leaked, but Peter Strzok’s response (“No, we’ll stop it”) was not until now? And how is that not a massive deal? My mind is boggled.”
