An actress in a Harry Potter show on Broadway says President Trump would not be a welcome member of the audience.
Noma Dumezweni, who plays Hermione in the Broadway hit, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” was asked if the president should see the play.
“No,” she adamantly declared Sunday during the 2018 Tony Awards’ red carpet ceremony. “Anybody else, yes.”
Dumezweni believes moments in the two-act play resonate with current events, and as some Harry Potter fans have compared Trump to the series’ villain, Lord Voldemort, his presence would be negative.
“I really do believe that’s why it’s resonating at the moment,” she told Variety. “We, all as human beings, are fighting to be connected. But especially to be seen. If you’re not seen and not heard, that’s where dangerous stuff happens. That’s where people under the radar do very cruel things.”
The actress went on to explain what the play, which is set 19 years after the seventh installment of J.K. Rowling’s series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” is trying to convey.
“It’s about bringing things into the light, letting your light shine. This is what J.K. has always been about. Let the darkness out into the light. That’s why I’m very proud to be here telling this story right now.”
Letting your light shine certainly doesn’t seem to back up the positive image when actors use their entertainment platforms to unleash their hateful rhetoric against the president. Actor Robert De Niro delivered a profanity-filled speech bashing Trump when he got his moment on stage during the awards, inspiring a standing ovation from the audience.

It seems liberal Hollywood – and Broadway – types will not be getting over the Trump Derangement Syndrome any time soon, but someone should probably let those like Dumezweni know that the president of the United States is currently too busy working on world peace and making America great to be worried about seeing some Broadway show.
He’s crushed, I’m sure

Odd…If the play is about “bringing things into the light,” about people being seen & heard, I would think the director & cast would want Trump to attend. If the message is strong, perhaps it would resonate.

Oh dear, the POTUS isn’t invited to a stage show of a highly overrated children’s book. I’m sure he will be heartbroken. Snork.

I HIGHLY DOUBT President Trump is interested in this. He’s too busy with #MAGA and saving the world to be concerned with what Hollywood thinks or says. Get over yourselves already ?

I’m always amazed that these people actually believe that we care what they think!

You guys keep raping and assaulting each other. The President is busy with more important matters and his main concern is about the Americans, not the elite. #MAGA pic.twitter.com/4xFJxMZZti

Unlike Obama, President Trump doesn’t really waste his time on crap like this since has a job to do; Fixing the mess made by the previous admin who cared too much about crap like this.

I’m sure Trump is really broken up about this, as he makes history by helping to denuclearize NK.
