NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman openly wept while discussing his happiness over how President Trump negotiated North Korea’s denuclearization agreement, saying former president Barack Obama ignored him when he tried to relay a message from Kim Jong Un five years ago.
“This is a great day for everybody!” Rodman told CNN while sporting a red “Make America Great Again” hat. “I’m just so happy to be here, man. It’s the world’s day!”
An emotional Rodman blasted Obama for ignoring his attempts to broker a dialogue between him and Kim Jong Un, who had asked Rodman to relay a message to the former president five years ago. “Obama didn’t even give me the time of day,” Rodman recalled. “He just brushed me off.”
In contrast, Rodman said President Trump called him recently through a secretary to tell him he’s very proud of him for his efforts. (Note to liberal media: The president you repeatedly call “racist” is being praised by a black man for brokering peace between two Asian nations that have been at war for 70 years.)
Rodman has visited North Korea several times at the request of Kim Jong Un, a huge basketball fan who reveres the former Chicago Bull. Those visits spawned an unlikely friendship between the diminutive dictator and the 6-foot-7 retired power forward.
To all Americans and the rest of the world I’m honored to call @POTUS a friend. He’s one of the best negotiators of all time and I’m looking forward to him adding to his historic success at the Singapore Summit. #Peace #Love #MakeAmericaGreatAgain #MakeTheWorldGreatAgain pic.twitter.com/3t3VBMSGaL

Rodman broke down in tears while recounting the countless death threats he received when he returned home from North Korea because people misunderstood his visit.
“When I went back home, I got so many death threats,” Rodman said. “I couldn’t even go home for 30 days. But I kept my head up.”
Dennis Rodman does not claim to be a diplomat, saying his goal is to bring professional basketball to North Korea. Rodman says that’s something Kim Jong Un has repeatedly asked him.
“I just wanna bring sports to North Korea,” Rodman said. “That’s it, sports.”
Rodman, who had appeared twice on “Celebrity Apprentice,” said he gave a copy of President Trump’s “Art of the Deal” book to the North Korean sports minister while visiting Pyongyang in June 2017.
1 year ago June 15 I gave this book "Art of the Deal" to Minister Kim Il Guk in Pyongyang, NK. Hoping everyone reads it before the historic Singapore Summit on June 12. We've got the greatest negotiator of all time @realDonaldTrump to show the world how it's done#Peace #Love pic.twitter.com/ERxXNnR20k

Rodman called the historic North Korea-U.S. summit in Singapore this week a hopeful start to fostering world peace through North Korea’s denuclearization.
“We don’t need a miracle, but we need the doors to be open so we can start fresh,” Rodman said. “Donald Trump should take a lot of credit for this. He went out of the box and made this happen.”
The mainstream media is already trying to marginalize President Trump’s achievements with the North Korea summit. But make no mistake: We have just witnessed history in the making.
