Conservative filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza, the recipient of presidential leniency in the form of a pardon from President Donald Trump, joined with the “Fox & Friends” crew Friday to dish on his private conversation with the president, to include what Trump hopes to see from him in the future.
“He said he just wanted me to be out there to be a bigger voice than ever defending the principles that I believe in,” D’Souza said.
D’Souza explained that the president said he has been looking at his case and that it was “fishy,” adding that a great injustice had been done and he was going to rectify it by clearing the slate.
He also shared the moment he received the call from Trump, which D’Souza said he did not know was coming.
“The president said: ‘Dinesh, you’ve been a great voice for freedom.’”
The outspoken filmmaker shared that, according to his research, he is the first and only American citizen to EVER be indicted and sentenced for the campaign finance violations he was guilty of.
The New York Post recently reported liberal actress Rosie O’Donnell “made illegally over-sized campaign donations to at least five Democratic federal candidates,” using five different New York addresses and four variations of her name. She has not been charged with a crime to date.
He also questioned whether the penalty — five years years probation, eight months in a halfway house and a $30,000 fine — was in proportion to the crime.
D’Souza said Team Obama made an example of him because the former president was angry over D’Souza’s unflattering film, “2016: Obama’s America.”

“This was a vindictive political hit that was kinda aimed at putting me out of business,” D’Souza added, noting that without the pardon, he would never have had his full rights because of the conviction.
“I’m very grateful to President Trump for giving me those rights back,” he stated.
D’Souza also defended himself on Twitter against the liberal mob up in arms over his pardon:
Yesterday, Sen. Ted Cruz and Judicial Watch’s Tom Fitton praised President Trump’s decision to pardon D’Souza. Liberals however, are fighting mad now that one of conservatism’s loudest voices is back, bigger and bolder than ever.
