Talk about tone deaf!
Prior to ABC cancelling the “Roseanne” sitcom Tuesday in the face of an ill-advised tweet from actress Roseanne Barr directed at Obama royalty member Valerie Jarrett, MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell asked colleague Joy Reid, “what do you have to do on social media to get fired from a top-rated show on an American broadcast network?”
Seriously.
Reid being the woman behind blog posts featuring racist, bigoted, homophobic and Islamophobic content. The same woman who claimed that she was hacked, until the feeble excuse collapsed.
Incredibly, Reid, who has a weekend show on MSNBC, then claimed she did not write what she wrote because she could not “believe” she would write it.
“I genuinely do not believe I wrote those hateful things because they are completely alien to me,” she proclaimed. “But I can definitely understand based on things I have tweeted and I have written in the past why some people don’t believe me.”
At which point her liberal media allies, people like Andrea Mitchell, quietly swept the controversy under the rug.
Reid rambled on in response to Mitchell’s question, saying white people feel it’s okay to compare black people to apes, before concluding it’s all President Donald Trump’s fault.
And while ABC sought the moral high ground in jettisoning Barr, who may or may not have known Jarrett was African American — she was born in Iran — the network took vile Keith Olbermann along with them.
“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” said ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said in a statement.
It’s all about “our company’s values,” as CNN’s Brian Stelter reported.
Why did ABC decide to cancel "Roseanne?" Per a Disney source: "It's a question of right and wrong. And it's a question of our company's values." I'm on set with @BrookeBCNN on @CNN now…

ESPN and ABC are owned by Disney, and the left-of-center sports network recently announced that Olbermann will co-host a number of “SportsCenter” shows.
Social media users were quick to remind Disney of the “values” represented by the foul-mouthed political commentator, and the double standard at play.
The last thing ABC stands for is supporting someone who tweets awful things… Now over to Keith Olbermann with sports… pic.twitter.com/bEXprawPtJ

So @gehrig38 gets fired by @espn for sharing a Facebook meme supporting the North Carolina transgender bathroom bill, but @espn hires @KeithOlbermann despite dozens of Tweets calling @realDonaldTrump a Nazi racist. But there’s no double political standard y’all. pic.twitter.com/3p3BWlyLgr

ESPN: “It’s crazy people say we’re biased politically. That’s not true! You’re making it up!” Also, @espn: “Let’s hire the guy who just published a book called “Trump is fucking crazy” pic.twitter.com/Vz9ERnYDPv

Shouldn’t a company as big as Disney have a coherent and consistent standard when it comes to policing online speech by employees? As is the standard is simple, left wingers can say whatever they want, right wingers get fired.

ABC fired Roseanne, but apparently finds Keith Olbermann acceptable https://t.co/bFP8xXcHNj

Never. #LiberalHypocrisy means never having to answer for your actions. @Disney & @ABC approve of @KeithOlbermann & hate anyone who supports @realDonaldTrump like #Roseanne. Its that simple.
