Former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain thinks ABC was just “looking for a reason” to pull the plug on “Roseanne.”
While he agreed that Roseanne Barr’s tweet about former White House adviser Valerie Jarrett was not okay, Cain believes the network only used it as an “excuse” to cancel the hit sitcom.
“Roseanne apologized fervently. They cancelled her anyway,” Cain told Fox Business Network’s Trish Regan on Tuesday.
“I believe … they were looking for a reason to cancel ‘Roseanne,’ ” he continued. “Even though the show was a ratings success, I believe that forces within ABC didn’t like the fact that her conservative defense of certain things was so popular in getting such ratings.”
Barr came under heavy fire online for her tweet calling the former Obama aide the offspring of the Muslim Brotherhood and “Planet of the Apes.” Despite apologizing, Barr was dropped from her talent agency and ABC abruptly cancelled the network’s highest-rated show.
ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey denounced Barr’s remarks as “abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values,” in a statement announcing the cancellation.
“I understand them using this as an excuse,” Cain said. “Yes, it was racist, yes, it was distasteful, and she vehemently apologized.”
The former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza also told Fox News host Neil Cavuto that Barr just gave the network the “ammunition” they needed.
“She overstepped her bounds and she didn’t think about what the backlash would be,” he said Tuesday. “I question whether or not that was the only motivation for cancelling the show.”
Cain also noted that ABC “provided 91 percent negative coverage” of President Trump, and that Barr has openy defended him.
“I believe that some companies are so obsessed with Trump derangement syndrome, conservative principles, that even if it sacrifices making money, they would not like to have that kind of defense of conservatism and Donald Trump in a popular show,” Cain explained. “We don’t know that, but I’m saying sometimes some of these organizations will forego making more money with successful ratings just to basically try to stand by their political point of view.”
When asked by Cavuto if he thought the actress really is a racist as all of her critics have been spewing, Cain answered simply, “No.”
“I’ve seen her show many times. I don’t think she’s a racist,” he replied. “I think she made some comments that she didn’t think about that would come across as sounding racist and indeed they were racist comments.”
Cain was not alone in his view that the liberals at ABC made a political decision and used the opportunity afforded by the tweet and its backlash to make the cut. They called out the left’s hypocrisy on Twitter.
If that’s right then cancel the view for joy behar attacking Christianity and wishing death to the current president . Right is right my a**.

In the interest of fairness, we demand an explanation from #NBC as to why the same standards & consequences don’t apply to #JoyReid as do #Roseanne.

This Rosanne thing was always a proxy for Pres Trump. They brought the show back so they could inevitably cancel the show when she said something they didn’t like. They can’t beat Trump so this is a symbolic show of force. Rosanne was always going to end this way.

(10) Roseanne didn’t cost anyone their job.
The network threw out the baby with the bathwater, and then everyone else came in the room and tossed out the mother, the maid, the other kids, the furniture…
It’s a frenzy that is beyond irrational.
