It seems President Trump is not the only one slamming “fake news” by the media.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk blasted the “holier-than-thou hypocrisy of big media companies” in a Twitter tirade on Wednesday that even credited distrust of journalists for Trump’s election.

In a retweet featuring an article about Tesla, the 46-year-old SpaceX CEO claimed the public no longer respects “big media companies” because they “lay claim to the truth, but publish only enough to sugarcoat the lie.”
The holier-than-thou hypocrisy of big media companies who lay claim to the truth, but publish only enough to sugarcoat the lie, is why the public no longer respects them https://t.co/Ay2DwCOMkr

He then teased an idea he would be tweeting shortly.
The media has earned this mistrust. But maybe there is a solution.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 23, 2018
When Musk got some pushback, he fired back citing Trump and why he “got elected in the first place.”
Musk continues his slow transformation into a media-baiting Trump figure screaming irrationally about fake news. Hope it works out for you dude! https://t.co/CtHkOip747
— Andrew J. Hawkins ??? (@andyjayhawk) May 23, 2018
Thought you’d say that. Anytime anyone criticizes the media, the media shrieks “You’re just like Trump!” Why do you think he got elected in the first place? Because no ones believes you any more. You lost your credibility a long time ago.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 23, 2018
Musk pointed out that “fossil fuel companies” and other carmakers have an effect on journalists who are under “constant pressure” due to advertising dollars.
Problem is journos are under constant pressure to get max clicks & earn advertising dollars or get fired. Tricky situation, as Tesla doesn’t advertise, but fossil fuel companies & gas/diesel car companies are among world’s biggest advertisers.

And he continued to fire back at critics.
blaming the messenger is the hot new thing everyone’s doing https://t.co/IJkOEBx4fo

Oh hey another sanctimonious media person who thinks he’s above criticism. Try being truthful & the public will believe you again.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 23, 2018
Musk then floated his idea on creating a site where the public could rate the credibility of journalists and news outlets, suggesting he would name it “Pravda,” the Russian word meaning “truth” and the Russian publication that was once the official newspaper of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
Thinking of calling it Pravda …
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 23, 2018
According to CNN: “A California business called Pravda Corp was incorporated late last year, with Jared Birchall listed in a filing as its president. Birchall’s name has also been listed in filings for other Musk projects, including The Boring Company.”
One tweet referred to the Pravda Corp filing, prompting a hugging face emoji from Musk.
Er, he’s not kidding folks. I noticed that one of Musk’s agents had incorporated Pravda Corp in California back in October last year. I was wondering what it was all about… https://t.co/y8xGGzwb3M pic.twitter.com/rTazUDUFMb

?
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 23, 2018
Musk continued his tweetstorm and even floated a poll to get some feedback.
Even if some of the public doesn’t care about the credibility score, the journalists, editors & publications will. It is how they define themselves.

Not only needs to be botproof, but seek & unmask anyone operating a disinformation bot army
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 23, 2018
Create a media credibility rating site (that also flags propaganda botnets)
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 23, 2018
If you’re in media & don’t want Pravda to exist, write an article telling your readers to vote against it …
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 23, 2018
Musk even poked fun at the media and his “poll” results, “despite hundreds of articles” attacking the survey.
Come on media, you can do it! Get more people to vote for you. You are literally the media.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 24, 2018
Amazingly, the “media is awesome” vote is declining, despite hundreds of articles attacking this very poll?
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 24, 2018
It seems Musk may have just poked the beast and the liberal meltdown is guaranteed.
All these people in the comments so pissed that he’s calling out the media. They defend the media because it gives them the headlines they want despite the actual truth. These journalists just hate that the country doesn’t trust them. Good for @elonmusk for speaking truth.

The hilarity is the Blue Check media types are screaming foul, but they don’t realize their tantrum is just proving Elon Musk right.
