Trump fever takes over as Ivanka arrives in Jerusalem; soccer team changes name to show love

Ahead of the official opening of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, it seems Trump fever has taken over.

With signs, banners and flags honoring President Donald Trump and the U.S. lining streets and buildings, and with the arrival of the U.S. delegation for the ceremonial opening, another group has found a way to honor the president.

Their “greatest love” for Trump has led a soccer team in Jerusalem to change their name in his honor.

Beitar Jerusalem praised Trump for his decision to move the American Embassy to Jerusalem and announced their name change because “we have the greatest love for the president,” according to The Jerusalem Post.

“The chairmen of the club, the owner Eli Tabib and the executive manager Eli Ohana have decided to add to the club’s title the name of the American President who made history, and from now on will be called Beitar Trump Jerusalem. We have the greatest love for the president, and we will win,” read a statement by the team.

“For 70 years, Jerusalem has been awaiting international recognition, until President Donald Trump, in a courageous move, recognized Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel. President Trump has shown courage and true love of the Israeli people and their capital, and these days other countries are following his lead in giving Jerusalem its rightful status,” the statement continued.

The name change will require approval from the Israel Football Association.

“In addition, Donald Trump has been a registered trademark in Israel since 2008, and should Beitar try to add it to its name, it may be sued, as it hasn’t received permission to use it,” according to the Jerusalem Post.

The team’s announcement comes just ahead of the opening of the American Embassy on Monday which will be attended by the president’s daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner.

The couple landed in Israel on Sunday with the presidential delegation, including US Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan and US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. Trump and Kushner were seen embracing US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman.

They attended a reception ceremony Sunday evening and Trump posted several photos to her social media accounts.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu  spoke at a reception welcoming the US delegation attended by both Trump and Kushner.

Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk tweeted “Very big things happening!” including a photo with the couple and conservative commentator Candace Owens.

The opening ceremony for the embassy will begin at 4 pm Monday with about 800 participants., according to YNetNews:

It will begin with the American anthem and opening remarks from Ambassador Friedman, who will invite a priest and a rabbi to offer their blessings. The ceremony will include speeches by Netanyahu, Mnuchin and Sullivan, followed by a televised greeting from President Trump. Singer Aveva Dese and her band will perform the songs “Jerusalem of Gold” and “Jerusalem.”

The official sign for the embassy which includes a dedication plaque for Trump and Vice President Pence will be also be unveiled, followed by speeches by President Reuven Rivlin and Kushner.
