Fans react after Carrie Underwood ‘debuts’ her new face at ACM Awards show after ‘gruesome’ accident

Country singer Carrie Underwood debuted her new face Sunday night at the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards, to the delight of millions of fans.

Underwood received up to 50 stitches on her face following a horrific accident at home back in November and not only did the popular recording artist not look any worse for the wear after such a “gruesome” incident, she looked fabulous as she performed her new single “Cry Pretty” at the awards show in Las Vegas.

The singer receiving a roaring standing ovation, and struggled to control her emotions. Real tears trying to compete with the tear-shaped glitter makeup below her eyes.

Oh, and Underwood won the award for vocal event of the year for her duet with Keith Urban, “The Fighter.”

Her appearance was a far cry from what was envisioned after she shared details of the accident with fan club members.

“In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well,” she said. “I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told [my husband] Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in.”

Underwood informed fans, “When I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different.”

As Fox News noted, Underwood teased fans on April 4, sharing a black & white photo on Instagram that revealed just one side of her face.

She shared an update last week on her wrist and her face, giving a positive report on both, Fox News reported.

“First off, physically, I’m doing pretty darn good these days! My wrist is almost back to normal, about 90% there…and the docs say that last 10% will come in time,” wrote the popular singer. “And my face has been healing pretty nicely as well. I definitely feel more like myself than I have in a while.”

Money to pay the best doctors in the world likely played a part, but still …
