California’s rising tide: Cities opting out of state’s ‘sanctuary law’ continue to grow

Residents in two more California counties voted to challenge the state’s sanctuary law, joining 12 other cities that do not want California to become a sanctuary for illegal aliens.

On April 12, the Orange City Council voted 3-2 to opt out of California’s sanctuary state law, joining Newport Beach, whose council voted unanimously to challenge the law that places the interests of illegal immigrants over American citizens and legal residents.

“It’s completely infuriating when I hear people crying and whining about what’s going on with the illegal aliens,” one man said at the Orange City Council meeting (via CBS News). “I’d like to see the border secured. I want to see a wall. And I want to see all illegal aliens systematically and aggressively removed from our country.”

Despite the mainstream media narrative, Newport Beach Councilman Scott Peotter said his county’s vote against California’s sanctuary law isn’t a vote against immigrants; it’s a vote against allowing “criminal illegal aliens” from re-entering his community.

The sanctuary law is being aggressively promoted by California Governor Jerry Brown (a Democrat) and State Attorney General Xavier Becerra (also a Dem). California, the home of Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters, is controlled by two-thirds Democrats.

Last month, Becerra threatened to arrest Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchins for doing her job by upholding federal immigration laws.

As BizPac Review previously reported, statistics show that up to 20 people a day are killed by unlicensed drivers. Don Rosenberg, whose son Drew was mowed down by an illegal alien, believes more than half of those unlicensed drivers are illegal immigrants.

Drew was riding his motorcycle in San Francisco when Roberto Galo struck him in November 2010. In a frantic effort to flee the scene of his crime, Galo ran over Drew twice, killing the 25-year-old student.

After Galo was convicted of manslaughter, he served 6 weeks in jail and was released. In 2013, he was deported back to Honduras.

Don Rosenberg said this tragedy would never have happened if Galo had not been in the United States illegally. “[My son] still would be alive if it wasn’t for this illegal immigrant,” Rosenberg said.

While Democrats have complained that President Trump’s proposed border wall would cost $21 billion, they blithely ignore that illegal immigration costs U.S. taxpayers more than $113 billion every year.
