The Obama State Department used $9 million in taxpayer money to help leftist billionaire George Soros back the socialist government in Albania in 2016. That’s what 32 pages of records obtained by government watchdog Judicial Watch shows.
“The Obama administration quietly spent at least $9 million in U.S. taxpayers’ dollars in direct collusion with left-wing billionaire George Soros’ backing of a socialist government in Albania,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton revealed in a statement.
“George Soros is a billionaire and he shouldn’t be receiving taxpayer support to advance his radical-left agenda to undermine freedom here at home and abroad.”
Judicial Watch obtained the records through FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requests, which showed that the $9 million was used specifically to give the socialist Albanian government greater control of the country’s judiciary system.
Albania is one of numerous countries that receives millions in foreign aid from the United States every year, so why is George Soros — who is not an elected or appointed government official — allowed to direct that money to left-wing causes he deems appropriate?

The United States gives billions in foreign aid to help poorer countries establish democracies and an independent judiciary.
What Soros’ Open Society Foundation did in Albania was to funnel U.S. taxpayer money to promote socialism and communism in Albania, according to Judicial Watch. That directly undermines longstanding U.S. foreign policy.
From 1992 to 1996, the United States gave Albania $1.5 billion. In 2015 alone, it received $16 million. It’s a small country with a population of just 2.87 million people, so that’s a lot of money.
But what’s shocking is that the Obama State Department allegedly allowed Soros’ Open Society Foundation to direct where U.S. taxpayer money would be used in Albania in 2016.
“It is particularly outrageous that the State Department allowed the Soros operation to help direct taxpayer funds,” Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said.
George Soros 88, has donated billions of dollars over the decades to finance Democratic politicians like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
In 2016, he donated millions to defeat Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential election. Soros is also reportedly behind the push to flood Europe with Muslim refugees.
Shortly after President Trump was elected, Soros reportedly financed violent Antifa protests around the world, many of which resulted in property damage, vandalism, and innocent people getting beaten up.
