Cali Dems celebrate over report 1,000,000 driver’s licenses have been doled out to illegal immigrants

California continues to flaunt its pro-illegal alien stance while disrespecting the state’s law-abiding residents.

According to a new report, the Golden State gave more than one million illegal immigrants a driver’s license since 2015 following the signing of Assembly Bill 60, “The Safe and Responsible Drivers Act,” into law by Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown.

As of March 31, 1,001,000 undocumented immigrants have received licenses, according to the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles, The Sacramento Bee reported on Wednesday.

The bill is “working the way it was intended to and has dramatically improved the lives of a million immigrants and their families,” Luis Alejo told the Bee in a statement. Alejo, now a Monterey County supervisor, authored the bill in 2013 when he was a Democratic assemblyman.

“Immigrants are getting tested, licensed and insured and this is making our roads safer for everyone,” Alejo said citing the legislation that was designed to help illegal immigrants “get to work, drive their children to school, and run everyday errands without the fear of being pulled over,” according to DriveCA.

California, which officially became a “sanctuary state” this year, is one of nearly a dozen states which allow illegal immigrants to legally have a driver’s license.

Illegal entry and residence in the U.S. by undocumented immigrants is rewarded with an official driver’s license  in Colorado, Hawaii, Vermont, New Mexico, Maryland, Illinois, Delaware, Washington, Nevada, Connecticut and Washington, D.C. in addition to California.

Applicants must provide specific documentation, “such as a foreign birth certificate, a foreign passport, or a consular card and evidence of current residency in the state.”

The U.S. Department of Justice sued California last month over its “sanctuary state” policy which restricts local law enforcement’s ability to help the federal government enforce immigration violations. Several California cities have also pushed back against the sanctuary laws, choosing to oppose the state and opt out of the law signed by Gov. Jerry Brown in October.
