Singer Kaya Jones drove home an incontestable fact in a reminder to gun control advocates following the shooting at YouTube’s California headquarters.
The artist and political commentator took to Twitter to make the point again that gun control legislation can’t prevent the mentally ill or criminals from carrying out these acts.
You can’t stop a mentally ill person or bad guy from walking into anywhere and shooting, but what we can do is arm ourselves to shoot back!
— Kaya Jones (@KayaJones) April 3, 2018
Had even one employee had a carry conceal maybe today could have ended differently
— Kaya Jones (@KayaJones) April 3, 2018
Gun up people! You can’t stop a shooter when weapons on the streets are also available. But what you can do it arm yourselves to fight back. You might end up saving your life or someone else’s
— Kaya Jones (@KayaJones) April 3, 2018
The world is a safe place armed.

Jones was reacting to news that San Diego resident Nasim Aghdam allegedly opened fire with a handgun at YouTube’s headquarters in San Bruno on Tuesday, wounding three people before killing herself.
Don Jr asks why liberal YouTube shooter’s hateful social media was pulled so fast. We know.
Jones pointed out the obvious fact that if anyone at the company had been armed, things may have “ended differently.”

Statement from someone watching the shooting who helped the women shot “It all happened so fast I didn’t have a gun, but I wish I did” from YouTube shooting eyewitness account

Gun free zones don’t work! I think that there’s enough proof to show that! Maybe @YouTube should rethink their rules
— Kaya Jones (@KayaJones) April 3, 2018
Jones reiterated the argument that no number of laws banning or controlling guns will stop criminals who, by definition, disregard laws.
You want to legislate legal firearms but have nothing done about illegal firearms? How does this make sense. YOU CANT LEGISLATE ILLEGAL FIREARMS! Therefore my rights aren’t up for grabs!
— Kaya Jones (@KayaJones) April 3, 2018
You can’t legislate mental health
— Kaya Jones (@KayaJones) April 4, 2018
I’m sorry about today’s shooting. Will more happen yes. Will we ever be able to stop a mentally ill crazy from wanting to inflict harm NO but if we are in the same place with a firearm YES we can surely try.
— Kaya Jones (@KayaJones) April 4, 2018
The former member of the Pussycat Dolls has openly declared her appreciation and “respect” for firearms in the past.
I love guns. I love knowing how to protect myself. I take time and enjoy learning more each day about weapons and rights. I am a proud American woman who isn’t giving up my right to bear arms. Now put that in your pipe and smoke it! pic.twitter.com/w6FGAMFLer

A vocal supporter of the U.S. military, Jones was on hand as a guest of country music duo Big & Rich to honor veterans at the Route 91 Harvest music festival last October an hour before gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire on the concert-goers from a hotel window, killing over 50 people and injuring hundreds of others.
You better believe if I’m ever in a scenario like route 91 or my home invasion again I’m shooting back
— Kaya Jones (@KayaJones) April 3, 2018
When you escape death there’s nothing to fear. You already faced it.

Predictably, some on Twitter disagreed with the 33-year-old platinum recording artist.
Bull s..t – you can screen them nationwide data base
— Koolu8973 (@koolu8973) April 3, 2018
They do! It’s called a background check. I had to do one before buy my first firearm
— Kaya Jones (@KayaJones) April 3, 2018
If everyone had a gun, how can you tell who the good guys are?
— Katy (@KatyKatStation) April 3, 2018
U know if they took our right to bear arms theres a million ways to arm urself anyway
For instance we can print gunz these days
— Crisis (@crisis187) April 3, 2018
Most, however, agreed with Jones and her common sense .
YouTube shooter hated company for censorship; dad says he warned cops of possible vendetta
My sentiments exactly cars killing people killing with knives if someone is going to kill their going to kill they could do it with poison they just set fire in places they could use bombs people have a right to protect themselves from all different types of terrorism
— Angel Fairman (@FairmanAngel) April 3, 2018
That is the ONLY viable solution to the mass shooting epidemic — good guys with their own weapons!! We need nationwide, reciprocal concealed carry mandated by federal law. The possibility of armed citizens will deter all but those who are insane.
— Justice4All?? (@4EverTexanEsq99) April 3, 2018
I know literally of dozens of nra members who could have stopped that madness in five seconds
