Ingraham hits back at George Bush for Trump potshot, and she wasn’t playing games

Laura Ingraham scoffed at remarks reportedly made by former President George W. Bush comparing his administration to that of President Donald Trump.

The Fox News host could hardly contain herself in reaction to comments reported by the National Journal that the nation’s 43rd president thinks the chaos in the Trump White House makes his own administration look “pretty good” by comparison.

“Actually it doesn’t,” Ingraham jabbed at Bush in her opening monologue on “The Ingraham Angle” on Tuesday.

“Unless endless wars, a financial crisis, unchecked immigration and leaving office with a 28 percent approval rating is ‘pretty good,'” she added.

Though she admitted Bush is a “great guy,” Ingraham noted that the former Republican commander-in-chief did not vote for Trump.

“So I frankly don’t care what he has to say about Donald Trump,” she said, noting that Bush, as part of the GOP establishment, was “mute” for eight years during the “tyranny of the Obama administration.”

Bush has not directly or openly criticized Trump by name but has often taken pot shots at the president.

“Bush is often heard to remark, unable to stifle his trademark smirk: ‘Sorta makes me look pretty good, doesn’t it?’ ” National Journal reported, adding that Bush hopes Trump will succeed but feels the problems within his administration are “self-inflicted.”

Ingraham fired back at the former president and other critics who are part of the Republican establishment that voters obviously rejected in the 2016 election. An election in which “the heartland showed it was not ready to cede its freedom to the gods of globalism.”

“Repeating the failed policies of the past is getting us nowhere. We’ve tried your expert ways for decades,” Ingraham said.

“What did the GOP establishment expect after he got elected? That somehow Donald Trump would become like one of them?” she asked.

Voters empowered Trump to “protect their liberty and restore their economic independence,” Ingraham said. “And that’s what he’s doing, the experts be damned.”
