Hope Hicks already lined up for $10 million payday after reports of illegal ‘secret diary’ with dirt on Trump

Hope Hicks became an instant media sensation after her announced exit from the Trump administration. The mystery woman known as the Trump whisperer, a power broker and confidante behind the scenes, is already commanding book deal offers rumored to be in the $10 million range.

That’s if Daily Mail is to be believed. Ahem. But it’s plausible given the longtime Trump aide is already the stuff of legend for numerous reasons, which we will get to momentarily.

Hicks’ publicly announced resignation as White House communications director was weeks in the making, but soap-opera-style drama fueled the narrative of inner circle chaos and trended worldwide.

The way CNN’s Erin Burnett spun it, the “final straw” for Hope Hicks was her confessing in testimony before Congress to telling “white lies” for the president. This reportedly earned her a dressing down before the president.

“According to the source, Trump asked Hicks after the testimony, how she could she be so stupid,” Burnett said, breathlessly. “And apparently that was the final straw for Hope Hicks.”

Apparently, not so fast. The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman, while pretentiously implying a journalistic range war with the likes of Burnett, disputed the narrative.

“Hope Hicks departure is NOT about yesterday’s hearing, per multiple sources. She had planned it before, had been thinking about it for months. She had informed a very small number of people prior to Hill hearing that she planned to leave,” the Times reporter scolded.

As for Hicks herself, she gave the entirely plausible reason for leaving: She was seeking opportunities outside the realm of politics.

“White House Communications Director Hope Hicks delivered a tearful goodbye to her staff this afternoon in the White House, saying she’s decided to leave because she doesn’t like Washington and doesn’t want to part of the system, according to a person in the room,” said ABC News reporter Jordyn Phelps.

The president also related that this was the way the Hicks resignation went down.

“Hope is outstanding and has done great work for the last three years,” Trump said. “She is as smart and thoughtful as they come, a truly great person. I will miss having her by my side, but when she approached me about pursuing other opportunities, I totally understood. I am sure we will work together again in the future.”

One of those opportunities may be the reputed eight-figure book deal, a windfall that would make her official salary look like pocket change. So, how could she command such a pay-off?

It’s partly because Hope Hicks is an enigma: A young, fashionable woman who is said to be indispensable for her ability to soothe Trump’s nerves and smooth over his irascible nature. She has even been called Trump’s “emotional crutch.”

Her rumored machinations within the sanctum sanctorum have only added to her mystique, and thus any insight she might give into the workings of the administration would undoubtedly become a best-seller. It would also be more believable than, say, Michael Wolff’s dubious bit of gossip-mongering “Fire and Fury,” whose sales have blown through the roof.

There are also reports that she has a “secret diary” that relates her encounters with the president, a tidbit that has media figures salivating.

Here is how the Daily Mail described it:

According to a White House insider, Hicks has been secretly keeping what was described as a ‘detailed diary of her White House work, and her interactions with the president.’

‘The thing is,’ the source tells Daily Mail, ‘Hope’s one of Donald Trump’s most loyal colleagues and friends. She’s not one to destroy that relationship.

‘And she is certainly under some sort of nondisclosure agreement. Moreover, the various investigations by the special counsel and congress could target her. So she has to be very careful about jumping into any deals.’

Thus, any reported “dirt” on the president that Hicks may have might not see the light of day. Except for this: Any descriptions of her meetings with the president taken down while White House communications director can be seized as “public records.”

Thus, a “secret” diary would be illegal and would become open season for journalists.

“Whoa!: ‘Hicks has been secretly keeping…a ‘diary of her White House work, and her interactions w/Trump.’ If true, belongs to USG not her, must be preserved in WH under Pres Recds Act, raises issues about her handling of classified & WILL be subpoenaed,” gushed Brookings scholar Norm Eisen.

If Hicks does have a “secret” diary that she stuffed into her purse on the way out of the White House, it would thus not be up to her whether it is revealed to the public.

The prospect of what’s in this reputed diary is already stirring up speculation among Hope Hicks fans.

A bit of ingeniously crafted Twitter lore comes from “Comfortably Smug,” and it weaves a tale of Hope Hicks as the consummate Trump insider, quietly destroying her enemies from within as she crosses names off in her diary with a red pen:

And so goes one of the longest-running threads in Internet history. (Spoiler alert: It ends with Hicks crossing her own name off the list.)

So, what’s a girl to do with a secret enemies list in danger of becoming public record?

She could pull a Hillary Clinton and shove it into an incinerator, thereby committing a felony. Unfortunately for the former model, Hicks is not a Democrat, and therefore she would likely have to start accessorizing for an orange jumpsuit.

Will the juiciest tidbits of her time in the Oval Office come to light? One can only hope. But if a Hicks tell-all ever hit the market, it would become a media sensation comparable to the scale of the Wolffish “Fire and Fury.”
