If it was good enough for Obama, it should be good enough for Trump.
That’s the message Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz is sending House Intelligence Committee ranking member Adam Schiff in the ultimate game of gotcha.
Gaetz made a move that would amend the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 and reintroduced legislation drafted by Schiff in 2013 to do it.
The Presidential Appointment of FISA Court Judges Act would allow the president to handpick all Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court judges, something Schiff apparently thought was a good idea when Barack Obama was residing in the Oval Office.
“Cash and a political party should never be convertible to a warrant to spy on American citizens,” Gaetz said Tuesday on the House floor.
“Because I expect Republicans and Democrats to both be in power at some point in the future, we should be looking for bipartisan solutions to revise the FISA process so that what happened to President Trump never happens to another American president.”
Then Gaetz really went after Schiff.

“So I went looking for solutions,” Gaetz continued. “And I found in 2013, the gentleman from California, the ranking member of the Intelligence Committee, wanted to give the President of the U.S. the power to appoint FISA judges.
“He argued that then judges would be diverse, and come from different areas in the U.S., and would be subject to Senate confirmation. Today, I filed that legislation, and I would encourage the gentleman from California to join me as a co-sponsor to advance bipartisan legislation to improve the FISA process. If it was good enough to give President Obama these powers, it’s good enough to give President Trump these powers.”
A coy Gaetz seemed to be holding back a smile as he encouraged bipartisan support from Schiff to help pass his very own bill.
“I’d encourage the gentleman from California [Schiff] to join me as a co-sponsor so that we can find bipartisan solutions to improve the FISA process,” Gaetz added, barely hiding a smile. “If it was good enough to give President Obama these powers, it’s good enough to give President Trump these powers.”
President Trump has accused Schiff of being one of the biggest “liars and leakers” in Washington.

Little Adam Schiff, who is desperate to run for higher office, is one of the biggest liars and leakers in Washington, right up there with Comey, Warner, Brennan and Clapper! Adam leaves closed committee hearings to illegally leak confidential information. Must be stopped!

Now we’ll see if he supports his own legislation. So far, no word from the California Democrat.
