Dinesh D’Souza’s tweets about students pushing gun control cause massive uproar; here’s his response

Conservative author Dinesh D’Souza apologized after being slammed for his controversial Twitter reaction to Florida students rallying for gun control.

Twitter trolls lashed out at CPAC, asking why they’re allowing him to speak at their event this year. CPAC responded by saying D’Souza was never scheduled to speak at this year’s conference, but said they deleted an old archived photo of him from their website amid the uproar.

The brouhaha erupted when D’Souza appeared to gloat after lawmakers rejected a bill to ban assault rifles days after the Valentine’s Day shooting at a Parkland, Florida, high school. The student survivors of the rampage had descended on Florida’s capital city of Tallahassee to push gun control.

When the students arrived in Tallahassee after a long bus ride, they learned that the Florida House of Representatives had rejected a proposal to ban assault rifles by a vote of 36-71.

That’s when D’Souza posted an ill-advised tweet that offended both conservatives and liberals. “Worst news since their parents told them to get summer jobs,” D’Souza wrote in one tweet. In another, he wrote: “Adults 1, kids 0.”

D’Souza was slammed by people who felt he was mocking the student survivors of the shooting rampage by 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz that left 17 people dead.

In response to the uproar, CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference), which begins today, condemned D’Souza’s comments. The tweet also apparently cleared up the #FakeNews” that D’Souza was scheduled to speak at the event this year.

“Dinesh D’Souza is not a speaker at #CPAC2018…His comments are indefensible,” the tweet read.

Hours later, D’Souza expressed sympathy for the victims and survivors of the Parkland shooting, but doubled-down on his initial comments by saying the students’ grief is being exploited by the mainstream media to push their anti-gun agenda.

“Genuine grief I can empathize with. But grief organized for the cameras—politically orchestrated grief—strikes me as phony and inauthentic,” D’Souza wrote.

He continued: “While the media exploits the Parkland shooting, my heart goes out to the parents and family members who are grieving the loss of loved ones.”

Dinesh also apologized for his insensitive remarks.

While most people agree that D’Souza’s initial comments were inappropriate, his observation that the students are being exploited by the media to shill their anti-Second Amendment agenda rings true.

D’Souza also objected to the new liberal talking point that 16-year-old kids should suddenly be given the right to vote so they can vote out lawmakers who defend the Second Amendment. It’s sad to say, but this is the generation that eats poisonous Tide Pods for fun.

That raises another question: Where were all the student rallies when young people were gunned down by radical Islamic terrorists in the Bataclan nightclub in Paris in 2015?

How about after eight young people were mowed down in the name of ISIS by Islamist Sayfullo Saipov in November 2017? Where are all the anti-jihadi rallies in the wake of the daily terrorist attacks in Sweden, London, and around the world?
