Anderson Cooper gives props to student, FBI dad for slamming Don Jr. over ‘liking’ tweets

Donald Trump, Jr. is part of another CNN “hard-hitting news” story after “liking” two tweets critical of Stoneman Douglas High School student David Hogg, a survivor and witness to last week’s deadly mass shooting.

On Tuesday night, CNN’s Anderson Cooper asked Hogg to respond to the tweets, which accused him of attacking the NRA and Republicans as a way of defending his father, a former FBI agent.

Hogg fired back at the conspiracy theory that he is a “crisis actor” who travels to tragedies to gain support for gun control.

“I’m just so sorry that these people have lost their faith in America because I know I certainly haven’t,” Hogg said. “The fact that these people refuse to believe that something like this could happen is something that all of us don’t want to believe, but the sad truth is that it is.”

The teenager directly denied being an actor.

“These people saying this is absolutely disturbing and I’m not an actor in any sense, way, shape, or form. I am the son of a former FBI agent, and that is true. But as such, it is also true that I go to Stoneman Douglas High School and I was a witness to this. I am not crisis actor. I’m somebody that had to witness this, that had to live through this, and I continue to have to do that.”

Hogg went on to call the conspiracy theories “unbelievable” and said it was “disgusting” that Donald Trump, Jr. “liked” the tweets. He also stated that he is in favor of the Second Amendment, although he previously called the NRA “child murderers.”

“It’s unbelievable to me that people are saying this, and the fact that Donald Trump Jr. liked that post is disgusting to me, but it’s also false, in terms of the sense that––these people keep saying that I’m anti-Second Amendment.

“I’m not. I want every American to be able to own a gun that has a mentally stable mind, a person that has a credible background, that doesn’t have any previous major convictions, and somebody that’s not gonna go out and commit these atrocities, ’cause those are the people that are at fault here.I do not want to take away the Constitutional rights of American citizens.”

Later, Hogg argued that many students at Stoneman Douglas are more mature than the country’s elected officials.

“The fact that these people are being critical of me as a witness and personally as a victim to this incident and having to witness this and live through it again and again–it’s unbelievable.

“And the fact that some of the students at Stoneman Douglas High School are showing more maturity and political action than many of our elected officials is a testament to how disgusting and broken our political system is in America.”

Hogg’s father joined him in the appearance and spoke briefly about his time in the FBI.

The activist student’s CNN remarks came after Benjamin Kelly, an aide to Florida Representative Shawn Harrison (R), was fired for sending an email to a reporting alleging that Hogg and fellow Stoneman Douglas student Emma Gonzalez are “actors,” CNN reports.
