Joy Reid pulls out giant fake race card to pick a fight with Laura Ingraham

Fox News host Laura Ingraham’s back and forth feud with Lebron James over whether or not the basketball superstar should take make political punditry a part of his game or just “shut up and dribble” caught the attention of MSNBC’s Joy Reid, who took up the issue on her Sunday show.

The AM Joy panel featured a panel including Beat DC editor Tiffany Ross, who was quick to defend James and his expression of his political views.

“I think what Laura Ingraham did was highlight her own ignorance,” said Ross. “There’s been a long, rich tradition of athletes weighing in on political issues. This is the same woman who would have told Muhammad Ali to shut up and fight when was protesting the Vietnam war … she sounds ridiculous.”

“They don’t want our athletes to speak content and truth into our communities,” Ross added.

Then, predictably, Reid played the “race” card, because that’s where liberals go when they don’t have an argument.

“There is this extent to which Fox News has decided that the grist for the ratings mill is black people,” said the MSNBC host. “Black NFL players, black NBA players. I mean, you had Eminem make a music video attacking Donald Trump — that’s not interesting to them. The grist is always black and brown people, because they know that it sells, and you have Laura Ingraham taking such umbrage and saying ‘how dare you say my words were racist…'”

Fact check: Fox News did indeed cover Eminem’s video. Here’s an example of Greg Gutfeld mocking the rap star. Wonder if anyone considered that racist?

After playing a video of Ingraham insisting her criticisms had nothing to do with race, especially since she’s used the “shut up and X” comment against people of any race, Reid insisted that the Fox News host is ignoring the “undertones” of her comments.

“All they do all day and all night is find black people to put on TV and say, point and point and point and look at them,” said Reid.

“They’re panicked,” added liberal website Shareblue writer Eric Boehlert. “The last eight days they don’t want to talk about a wife-beater in the White House, they don’t want to talk about another mistress being paid off. So they have to expand the reach for the outrage, and they end up sounding like a chatroom from Stormfront, and any of these white nationalist sites.”

The message, of course, is don’t criticize a liberal black person, or you’re a “white nationalist!”
