For the First Family, safety is a constant concern.
On Monday, Vanessa Trump, wife of Donald Trump, Jr., was taken to the hospital as a safety precaution after opening an envelope addressed to her husband that contained white powder. The writing on a letter also found in the package is now known, the New York Post reports.

According to law enforcement sources, the unknown sender, who post-marked the letter in Boston, wrote: “You are an awful person. This is why people hate you. You are getting what you deserve. So shut the f–k up.”
The letter arrived at the home of Donald Trump, Jr.’s mother-in-law at approximately 10am on Monday. After Vanessa Trump called 911 after opening the package and discovering the white powder inside.
Sources said the couple’s children were not present at the time. Mrs. Trump did not receive any harm, but was briefly hospitalized and decontaminated for safety.

The white powder turned out to be cornstarch, sources said.
Mail at the home of the younger Trump’s in-laws is reportedly not screened in the way his own is.
“This is not a secure site,” a source said of the home of Vanessa Trump’s mother. Secret Service is not going through [the] mail.”

On Tuesday, white powder was delivered to the office of former president Barack Obama in Washington, D.C. The substance was later found to be baby powder, Fox 5 DC reported.
After the scare, Trump, Jr. thanked local emergency responders and condemned the sender of the powder-filled parcel.
A special thanks today to the great men & women of the @NYPDnews @FDNY @SecretService @NewYorkFBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force for their decisive action and incredible words of support to my wife and family. Their professionalism under pressure made a rough day manageable.

Thankful that Vanessa & my children are safe and unharmed after the incredibly scary situation that occurred this morning. Truly disgusting that certain individuals choose to express their opposing views with such disturbing behavior.

Be it against the Trumps or the Obamas, threats of violence have no place in American politics.
