Even Geraldo is appalled by Dems’ ‘disgraceful,’ ‘rude,’ ‘childish’ behavior at Trump’s State of the Union

Fox News personality Geraldo Rivera slammed Democrats for their “disgraceful” behavior at President Trump’s State of the Union address.

The liberal-leaning Rivera joined a chorus of critics who condemned the “churlish, immature actions” of Democrats on Tuesday, speaking about it with “Fox & Friends” hosts on Friday.

Co-host Ainsley Earhardt discussed Democrats who refused “to the support the President for anything. They didn’t stand for God, they didn’t stand for the national anthem, for veterans, not even for the record low black unemployment rate.”

“What was your reaction to them sitting down for all of this?” she asked.

“I was so disheartened by it. I thought it was disgraceful. I thought it was rude. I thought it was childish. I don’t think Democrats won a single vote by their churlish, immature actions,” Rivera declared.

“Everybody’s parents teach them manners. Manners are very simple. You can make a jest, a jibe, you can elbow someone, you can wink, you can nod, you can even insult someone. Politics is a rough-and-tumble game,” he continued.  “But when you demonstrate immature rudeness, when you — we only get one president at a time. The State of the Union address is one of those kind of ceremonies that has a certain, you know, spiritual nature, it hearkens back to our forefathers and all the rest of it.”

He then referred to the example of members of the Congressional Black Caucus who did not celebrate when Trump announced low black unemployment rates.

“For instance, how can you not cheer, if you’re a member Congressional Black Caucus, for historic low black and Latino unemployment?” Rivera asked. “That’s an applause line. I don’t care who says it. The page who announces the President could have said it, you should applaud that.”

In fact, Trump broke nearly all records for his speech garnering 115 rounds of applause and high praises from viewers. But Democrats, who paraded their illegal immigrant guests at the Capitol that night, also did not join in the “USA” chants that broke out. Illinois Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez apparently could not even be in the same room, walking out near the end of Trump’s speech.

“How can you not applaud $1.5 trillion in infrastructure? How could you not applaud a 12-year-old kid putting little American flags on neglected graves of GI’s? ” Rivera asked. “You know, I have never liked it, but I have never seen it so profoundly disquieting as it was during the State of the Union. It was so rookie.”
