Rep. Maxine Waters has been tapped to deliver a nationally televised rebuttal to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech.
The California Democrat obsessed with impeaching Trump will appear Tuesday night on BET’s “Angela Rye’s State of the Union” to address the nation, according to BuzzFeed News.
The program “is part of a broader partnership announced just days ago between the network and the Democratic strategist and political commentator” that will focus on issues facing black Americans, BuzzFeed reported.
The Democratic Party’s official response will be delivered by Rep. Joe Kennedy, D-Mass., who’ll have to deal with Waters stepping all over his intended message.
Waters, once named one of the most corrupt members of Congress, is joining with other members of the Congressional Black Caucus to boycott the State of the Union in protest of Trump.
“Why would I take my time to go and sit and listen to a liar?” she said recently during an appearance on MSNBC.
“I don’t trust him, I don’t appreciate him and I wouldn’t waste my time,” Waters said. “He does not deserve my attention.”
Responding to a speech she will not be hearing promises to make Waters’ address that much more entertaining.
