The evening before President Trump takes the stage to give the annual State of the Union Address, the #Resistance plans to gather for a competing event of their own.
On January 29 in New York City, a snowflake, er, ‘star’-studded event called “The People’s State of the Union” will take place to showcase Democratic midterm candidates and highlight liberal opposition to Trump.
Leftist groups hosting the event include We Stand United, Stand Up America, and MoveOn.org, according to People, and will include notable Trump-hating celebrities like Whoopi Goldberg, Mark Ruffalo, Rosie Perez, and even filmmaker Michael Moore.

“In essence, it’s a better reflection of our state of the union based on a more populist point of view, based on the people’s point of view,” Ruffalo told People before launching into a tirade against the president. “I think it’s important because we have a president who has a difficult time with the truth, who has a radical, divisive agenda, and spends an enormous amount of time focusing on the negative and hopelessness and despair.”

The actor also compared the anti-Trump movement to, of all things, the “civil rights movement.”
“We want to celebrate this moment that we’re in of what is now probably one of the most influential and powerful and really beautiful movements to come into play in the United States since the civil rights movement,” the actor said.
Right, because tax cuts, border security, and fighting ISIS are exactly the same thing as Jim Crow laws.
MONDAY! Join the #PeoplesSOTU, celebrate the #ResistanceMovement & pave a path to victory w/ @MarkRuffalo @rosieperezbklyn @MMFlint @WhoopiGoldberg @common @JohnLeguizamo & more! RSVP for the live stream here: https://t.co/hKoleTGzNN #Vote2018 pic.twitter.com/1BxwshnqFr

Besides hysterical rants from out-of-touch Lefty celebrities, the event will have music from Common and Andra Day, who will perform “Stand Up for Something.”
Several other progressive groups plan to attend the event, including union groups, United We Dream, and the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, among others.
So yeah, this pretty much sums it up…
#PeoplesSOTU : where celebrities counteract a celebrity being the voice of the people as they pretend to be the voice of the people… 🤦🏼♂️ #PeoplesSOTUResponse
