The guy who used to play Barney the dinosaur is even more perverted than we all thought

Prepare to have your childhood memories shattered.

In an interview with Vice, David Joyner, who for years played the titular purple dinosaur on PBS’s “Barney & Friends,” gave an in-depth description of his new occupation: running a tantric sex business.

Joyner donned the purple suit from 1991 to 2001. Now his time is spent sexually tending to 30 all-female clients, whom he dubs “goddesses.”

The mission statement for Joyner’s business, Tantra Harmony, reads “Connecting your mind, body and spirit together as one, in perfect harmony. Achieving a higher , and more blissful state of awareness to your sexuality, and who you are as a spiritual being.”

The former “Barney” actor’s services go beyond massage and include sexual intercourse with clients, whom he requires to sign a contract stating they aren’t police or part of a prostitution sting operation.

Joyner explained that through sex, he helps his “goddesses” reach spiritual levels unattainable through massage.

“When the lingam [penis] and the yoni [vagina] meet, there’s a certain energy that takes place that hands on the body alone cannot create,” he said. “Even through G-spot massage, it’s still not the same energy that flows.”

The entertainer-turned therapist compared oral sex to saying grace before a meal.

“When you go down on a woman (orally), it should be just like you’re saying grace, like blessing the food you’re about to receive. No food in the world can compare to goddess nectar because spirit is involved. Before you taste the goddess nectar, give thanks. Say grace. I would love women to understand how powerful that energy is.”

Clients learn of his services several ways, Joyner said. A number were women he connected with on the hook-up app Tinder, whom he wowed with his bedroom expertise and converted into paying customers.

One client claimed in a testimonial that Joyner helped her experience a “full body orgasm.”

“My job was to embrace everything so emotions could be released. During a long and exceptionally expert yoni massage I experienced my first full body orgasm. It was literally the most sensational thing I’ve ever experienced, it was one of the most intense single orgasms I’ve ever had!”

Joyner began his practice in 2004. He recounted learning about tantric sex in the ’80s while working part-time as a masseuse–a gig he took up to pay for his schooling at ITT Technical Institute.

Attorneys for “Barney & Friends” told him to keep his hobby to himself during his tenure as the charismatic children’s icon–warning him it could lead to a lawsuit.

Joyner continued practicing tantra in secret, sometimes with members of the crew. He described the tantric mindset as helping him in his role.

“The energy I brought up [while] in the costume is based on the foundation of tantra, which is love,” he said. “Everything stems, grows, and evolves from love. Even when you have emotionally blocked energy, the best way to remove it is to remove it with love, and then replace it with God’s divine love.”

Joyner continued:

“Before I got into the [Barney] costume, I would pray and ask God to allow his loving divine spirit to flow through me through the costume and let that draw the kids. That energy would always draw them in. Children are more connected spiritually than [adults]. A lot of times when I see infants and I’m out and about at the grocery store or whatever, they start staring at me. I make the joke, ‘You know who I am.”

In a Business Insider interview from last year, Joyner claimed “there’s a lot of clairvoyance” in his family.

He recounted a dream he had the night before his audition for the legendary PBS program.

“Well the night before the audition, I had this dream. And in this dream, Barney passes out. And I have to give Barney mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.”

Joyner has drawn criticism for sleeping with his clients and for preferring sex without condoms–which he says “block the energy.”

“Even porn stars in California use a condom,” said Kimberly Resnick Anderson, a sex therapist and professor of psychiatry at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine. “It’s the law. For him not to use condoms is medically unethical and irresponsible.”

In California, where Joyner practices, it’s illegal to solicit via a massage intended to arouse. The “Barney” star said he skirts around possible prostitution charges by offering a free first session, where no money is exchanged.

Attorney Jonathan Kelman begged to differ, saying Joyner’s practice of charging for subsequent sessions is problematic. “You can’t legally have sex with someone in exchange for money,” Kelman explained.

One thing’s for sure: none of us will ever be able to listen to Barney’s “I Love You” song the same way again.

After word of the interview spread, Twitter exploded with the sound of childhoods across America being torn to shreds.
