Megyn Kelly finally snaps over Fonda’s fixation on plastic surgery question…It’s on ‘Hanoi Jane’!

Doing an interview with Megyn Kelly apparently leaves a bad aftertaste.

The host of NBC’s “Megyn Kelly Today” took a moment Monday morning to fire back at actress Jane Fonda, who slammed Kelly for asking about her plastic surgery during an interview back in September.

“Now, a word on Jane Fonda, who appears to be fixated on an exchange I had with her months ago on this show,” Kelly told her audience.

“It’s time to address the ‘poor me’ routine,” she went on to say.

Over the weekend, Fonda told Variety that she would only agree to come back on Kelly’s program if the host “learns her stuff.”

“It wasn’t like I was upset,” Fonda said. “I was stunned. It was so inappropriate. It showed that she’s not that good an interviewer. But if she comes around and learns her stuff, sure.”

Kelly defended questioning the celebrity about her plastic surgery.

“For years, [Fonda] has spoke about the joy of giving a cultural face to older women,” Kelly said. “The truth is, most older women look nothing like Fonda, who is now 80. And if Fonda really wants to have an honest discussion about older women’s cultural face, then her plastic surgery is tough to ignore.”

The talk show host claimed to have “no regrets” about her interview with Fonda, before recounting the star’s history of controversial activism.

“I have no regrets about that question, nor am I in the market for a lesson from Jane Fonda on what is and is not appropriate. This is a woman whose name is synonymous with outrage. Look at her treatment of military during the Vietnam War.

“Many of our veterans still call her ‘Hanoi Jane,’ thanks to her radio broadcast which attempted to shame American troops. She posed on an anti-aircraft gun used to shoot down our American pilots. She called our P.O.W.s hypocrites and liars and referred to their torture as ‘understandable.’ Even she had to apologize years later for that gun picture.”

Kelly was relentless in censuring Fonda, stating that the Oscar winner “is not proud of America. So, the moral indignation is a little much. She put her plastic surgery out there.”

Kelly pointed to previous occasions in which Fonda has spoken about her plastic surgery publicly. The actress detailed modifications to her face during a 2011 interview with Rosie O’Donnell on the Oprah Winfrey Network, for example.

The Kelly-Fonda controversy began after the iconic celebrity appeared on the NBC program alongside Robert Redford to promote the film “Our Souls at Night.”

“I read that you said you’re not proud to admit you’ve had work done,” Kelly questioned. “Why not?”

“We really wanna talk about that now?” a visibly annoyed Fonda replied.

“Will & Grace” star Debra Messing also expressed regret about appearing on “Megyn Kelly Today” after the host made an awkward gay joke during her interview.

“Regret going on,” Messing said in September. “Dismayed by her comments.”

If Megyn Kelly keeps getting into feuds with her interview subjects, she made to consider a different line of work.
