U2 has finally gone off the deep end.
The Irish rock band is receiving backlash for a political music video that associates President Trump with the Ku Klux Klan.
The song “Get Out of Your Own Way” features lyrics that seemed to allude to the left-wing “resistance” against President Trump.
“Resistance, love has got to fight for its existence / The enemy has armies of assistants,” U2’s Bono sang.
The music video released Thursday is an animated stop motion animation short created by Israeli graffiti group Broken Fingaz Crew.
The directors of Broken Fingaz Crew wrote a mission statement for their video that was included in its Youtube description.
“The video addresses the current political situation: 2017 for us was the year fascists worldwide felt confident enough to raise their heads again, encouraged by Trump and other world leaders, who use people’s fear to build more walls and segregation.
“The song is both a personal letter and a clarion cry to the global situation, and in the same way, we’ve combined our psychedelic pop style with political imagery; shot entirely analogue, using paper cut and stop motion animation techniques.”
The video was filled with a wide array of psychedelic and symbolic imagery. Recurring are shots of KKK members marching, including behind the Oval Office window as President Trump sits and stands at his desk.

“Get Out of Your Own Way” is featured on U2’s 14th LP, “Songs of Experience.” The band delayed the release of the album due to President Trump’s victory in the 2016 election.
Last January, band guitarist The Edge told Rolling Stone, “the election [happened] and suddenly the world changed.”
He continued: “We just went, ‘Hold on a second – we’ve got to give ourselves a moment to think about this record and about how it relates to what’s going on in the world.'”
In December, Bono called President Trump a “post-truth president” and described his administration as “the bleakest era since Nixon.”
Many Twitter users weren’t happy about U2’s upfront political statement.
U2 has literally made an entire video hyperventilating about the KKK, which barely even exists anymore.
They actually think a relative handful of 4chan edgelords are going to launch a global fascist uprising.

This is what happens when no one listens to your music any more. It’s a good way to make that situation escalate.

I have lost 5 minutes of my life watching the most disgusting video ever! U2 is dead and buried for me!

Trying for relevance by grasping irrelevance. Not a good marketing scheme.

U2 have not been relevant for a while… & now seem to be in battle with Eminem for the title of ‘biggest downfall’ of all time….

They used to be a great band. All their music sounds the same now, so they have to make themselves relevant again through politics? They never learn

Why are all the celebrities against the president? What is wrong with everyone. Do they not live in the flourishing economy or is it that they don’t need it like us little people?

Here are the Senators who will not accept salary during shutdown
Honestly don’t understand people who aren’t from and don’t live in the US who believe it is they’re duty to criticize a country they don’t understand…and never will.
