Jr. senator slams Trump as a ‘draft dodger’ but doesn’t understand what that means

Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth should really learn the definition of words before she uses them. Otherwise, she’ll just keep embarrassing herself by spotlighting her epic ignorance.

Duckworth, a retired U.S. Army veteran, slammed President Trump as a “draft dodger” on the Senate floor. The junior senator made the remarks in response to the president’s rebuke of Senate Democrats for refusing to pass an interim federal budget unless illegal aliens are given amnesty.

This liberal blackmail has caused the federal government to shut down. Hopefully it won’t last 13 days, like the 2013 shutdown under Barack Obama did.

“I will not be lectured about what our military needs by a five-deferment draft dodger,” Duckworth said (video below). “And I have a message for Cadet Bone Spurs: If you cared about our military, you’d stop baiting Kim Jong Un into a war that could put 85,000 American troops and millions of innocent civilians in danger.”

The “bone spurs” dig was a reference to President Trump’s draft deferments: He got four during his four years of college at the University of Pennsylvania, and a fifth medical deferment after being diagnosed with bone spurs in his feet.

Millions of young men got draft deferments while attending college during the Vietnam War. This was common practice.

Similarly, millions of people get medical deferments for conditions that could impair their ability to serve in the military.

Using Tammy Duckworth’s liberal logic, former president Bill Clinton is a draft dodger. But she never once criticized Clinton for not serving in the military. Duckworth never slammed Barack Obama for not serving, either.

It also bears pointing out that “the term draft dodger only applies to people who fled or failed to report when called up, not to people who avoided the draft by legal means. You’re not a draft dodger if you got an exemption, postponement, or deferment. These were built into the Selective Service Act on purpose. Calling someone a draft dodger for following the law is libelous.”

So what else you got, Tammy?
