Dylan Farrow hopes people will believe her “instead of just hearing” her claims that her adoptive father, Woody Allen, molested her for years.
Farrow admitted she wanted to take down the director in an explosive first interview with CBS host Gayle King, saying she “hopes” the #MeToo movement that has caused attention to be brought to sexual misconduct accusations like her own will make her voice heard.

Though Allen has always maintained his innocence and multiple investigations have resulted in no charges being filed, Farrow holds to her claims that Allen molested her as a child beginning when she was only seven years old. Farrow, whose mother is actress Mia Farrow, believes she has every right to be angry and want to “bring him down.”
“Someone said this to me, ‘She wants to bring Woody Allen down. She’s caught up in the #MeToo, Time’s Up movement, and this is really what she’s trying to do is bring him down,'” King said in a “This Morning”segment of the interview which is set to air Thursday.
“Why shouldn’t I want to bring him down?” an emotional Farrow responded. “Why shouldn’t I be angry? Why shouldn’t I be hurt? Why shouldn’t I feel some sort of outrage that after all these years, being ignored and disbelieved and tossed aside?”
“And after all these years, why should people believe you now?” King asked.
“I suppose that’s on them, but all I can do is speak my truth and hope,” Farrow said. “Hope that someone will believe me instead of just hearing.”
Farrow had detailed the sexual abuse in 2014 in an open letter to the New York Times. Again in 2017, she addressed the claims in the Los Angeles Times.
“When I was 7 years old, Woody Allen led me into an attic, away from the babysitters who had been instructed never to leave me alone with him,” she wrote. “He then sexually assaulted me. I told the truth to the authorities then, and I have been telling it, unaltered, for more than 20 years.”
Farrow’s brother, NBC News reporter Ronan Farrow, has defended his sister and blasted the “culture of acquiescence” toward child molesters, rapists and other sexual predators by those in Hollywood. Farrow wrote the explosive piece that exposed Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein.
The allegations against Allen have caused some in Hollywood to distance themselves from the 82-year-old filmmaker and actor whose career spans more than six decades.
Timothee Chalamet announced Tuesday he would be donating his salary from an upcoming Allen film to Time’s Up, the LGBT Center in New York and RAINN, charities fighting sexual harassment and abuse, according to an Associated Press report. Actresses Rebecca Hall, Mira Sorvino, Ellen Page, as well as David Krumholtz and Griffith Newman have also recently moved away from Allen, some saying they would not work with the director again.
But Alec Baldwin came out in defense of Allen, earning a heavy dose of backlash on Twitter.

“Woody Allen was investigated forensically by two states (NY and CT) and no charges were filed,” Baldwin tweeted Tuesday. “The renunciation of him and his work, no doubt, has some purpose. But it’s unfair and sad to me. I worked w WA 3 times and it was one of the privileges of my career.”
Allen’s representative issued a statement in December in response to Farrow’s op-ed published by the Los Angeles Times.
“Dylan Farrow’s allegations against Woody Allen, which she first made 25 years ago, have been thoroughly examined by law enforcement officials and child welfare investigators,” the representative said. “The investigators concluded unambiguously that Dylan Farrow was not sexually abused. No charges were ever filed, and the reason is simple: because Woody Allen is innocent.”
