The race to replace retiring Arizona Senator Jeff Flake just got a lot more interesting on Friday with the addition of Arizona Rep. Martha McSally.
And the two-term congresswoman is already showing she’s got more, er, goods than the hand-wringing anti-Trump RINO currently occupying the seat ever dreamed of having.
In a race that’s expected to highlight the long-running feud between the GOP’s newfound populist wing and establishment neocons more interested in virtue-signalling to liberals than putting their constituents, much less Americans, first, McSally is coming out firmly in support of President Trump and his policies.
Her clarion call to weak-kneed Republicans who think Flake’s flaking is somehow the way to go? “Grow a pair…”
“…of ovaries.”
“Like our president, I’m tired of PC politicians and their BS excuses,” McSally said in her hard-hitting announcement video, released Friday, that also highlighted her career as an Air Force fighter pilot and her eight-year fight to end a military policy requiring female soldiers in certain Muslim-majority countries to wear robes over their military uniforms.
“I’m a fighter pilot and I talk like one.”
“That’s why I told Washington Republicans to grow a pair of ovaries and get the job done,” McSally added. “Now, I am running for the Senate to fight the fights that must be won — on national security, economic security and border security.”
“After taking on terrorists in combat, the liberals in the Senate won’t scare me one bit,” the retired Air Force colonel said.
Rep. Martha McSally from Arizona just told the GOP to "grow a pair of ovaries!"

McSally, who boasts the distinction of being the first female fighter pilot to fly a combat mission, intends to help announce and publicize her candidacy by flying across Arizona herself, stopping in Prescott, Phoenix, and Tucson.
The primary race won’t be easy. The 51-year-old McSally will compete with none other than former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, 85, an immigration hard-liner with legendary status in the state, and pro-Trump former State Senator Kelli Ward, both of whom will try to paint McSally tough on talk but weak on delivery. And the Arizona congresswoman will have a tough time explaining away the time she refused to endorse Trump in 2016.
In her defense, she has leaned to the right of late, sponsoring an immigration plan backed by House conservatives that would reduce legal immigration, defund “sanctuary cities,” and curb chain migration.
Conservatives can at least bank on one thing – whoever wins the primary will be a sharp upgrade over the seat’s current occupant.
The winner will face off against likely Democratic opponent Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, who is a strong favorite to win her party’s nomination.
