Stephen Miller destroys ‘CNN flunky’ Jake Tapper in blood sport interview that got everyone’s attention

White House senior adviser Stephen Miller sat down Sunday with CNN’s Jake Tapper and the exchange went about as well as expected, given the cable network’s blood lust for Miller’s boss.

The interview quickly deteriorated in a heated back and forth that left Tapper far more bloodied than his guest.

The drubbing was so bad, President Trump weighed in on social media to remark on how Miller “destroyed” Tapper, whom the president called a “CNN flunky.”

“Jake Tapper of Fake News CNN just got destroyed in his interview with Stephen Miller of the Trump Administration,” he tweeted. “Watch the hatred and unfairness of this CNN flunky!”

Again and again, Miller attacked CNN for its virulent anti-Trump coverage and, try as he might, Tapper could not shut him down. The only option was to shut the interview down, which the CNN host eventually did.

Tapper interrupted to ask if Miller would allow him to pose a question as he tried to explain that former White House aide Steve Bannon did not push the Muslim travel ban.

“No. You have 24 hours of negative, anti-Trump, hysterical coverage on this network that led in recent weeks to some spectacularly embarrassing false reporting from your network,” Miller said.

“The viewers are entitled to the truth,” he insisted. “Why don’t you just give me three minutes to tell the truth of the Donald Trump that I know.”

“Because it’s my show and I don’t want to do that,” Tapper shot back.

Tapper went on to try to establish that Steve Bannon was “a key player” in the Trump White House.

“I think that what the point is that his role has been greatly exaggerated, whereas the president hasn’t gotten the due that he deserves for the movement he put together to tap into the kinds of people whose life concerns don’t get a lot of attention on CNN,” Miller replied.

“Not a lot of hours of coverage on this TV talking about the working class construction workers who’ve lost their jobs to foreign labor,” he said. “There isn’t a lot of coverage on this TV about the people getting slaughtered in sanctuary cities.  You don’t do a lot of human interest stories about immigrant communities under siege from MS-13.

“He tapped into a reality that is happening in this country that is not covered on this network. And I know you think I’m interrupting you, but I think the American people deserve to have two or three minutes of the truth.”

Tapper got blown out of the water when he referenced a tweet from the president over the weekend addressing his mental stability to ask if tweeting helps Trump’s cause.

“Not only do I think they help it,” Miller replied, “but I think in the toxic environment you have created here in CNN and cable news, which is a crisis of legitimacy for your network, and we saw it, of course, with the extremely fake news that you reported about the Don Jr. and Wikileaks story.”

“That was a huge embarrassment for your network,” he continued. “Just like the huge embarrassment you had when you got the Comey testimony wrong.”

In the end, Tapper accused Miller of “not answering the questions,” saying his guest was only interested in pleasing “one viewer,” that being President Trump, of course.

“You have 24 hours a day of anti-Trump material and you’re not going to give three minutes for the American people…” Miller said in response, which prompted Tapper to cut the interview off.

“I get it,” he said in closing. “There’s one viewer you care about right now and you’re being obsequious and you’re being a factotum in order to please him, okay? I think I wasted enough of my viewers’ time.”

As might be expected, the bloodbath played well on social media… here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter:
