Arson investigation underway after Roy Moore accuser’s home burns down

Investigators suspect that the fire that burned down the home of one of Roy Moore’s accusers was intentionally set.

The home of Tina Johnson, who accused the Republican Alabama Senate candidate of groping her in his office back in 1991, was completely destroyed by a fire this week.

And while authorities believe that the fire had no correlation to Moore or Johnson’s allegations, they are investigating it as a case of arson, CBS News reported.

“It’s too coincidental to me but whatever they say, I’ll go with, ” Johnson told CBS. “Right now, I’m just so devastated.”

Johnson and her family lost everything they had in the Gadsden home where she lived for 10 years with her husband and grandson.

A Silicon Valley tech executive launched a crowdfunding campaign for Johnson that quickly raised tens of thousands of dollars, reaching over $140,000 at the time of this writing and far exceeding the $100,000 goal.

“It’s important to support women who are bravely using their voices to make the world better for other women. I was really upset to see the news about her home today. Money won’t erase what happened, but I truly hope it will help,” Katie Jacobs Stanton, who started the campaign after reading about the incident on Twitter, told CNNMoney.

“Honestly, I’m in shock like I was the day it happened. I can’t comprehend all this, it’s just overwhelming,” Johnson told CNNMoney, adding that the money would go toward getting a new home for her family. “I need a home for my grandson.”

Moore, who lost the Alabama Senate race, has denied the accusations made by Johnson who said she was 28 years old at the time of the incident.
