Perhaps the investigation lacked sex appeal…
Given the current state of affairs, it was only a matter of time before Ivanka Trump’s name would surface in special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of alleged Russian collusion in the 2016 election.
At the center of a report that Mueller is looking into “involvement” between a Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya and Ivanka is the June 2016 meeting Donald Trump Jr. had with the attorney who was said to have dirt on Hillary Clinton, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Ivanka did not attend the half-hour meeting, but did — egad — pass Veselnitskaya and Russian-born Washington lobbyist Rinat Akhmetshin at the elevator at Trump Tower.
Mueller is said to be interested in ALL contact the two visitors had with Trump family members, even if it amounted to nothing more than pleasantries, which is just what a source says was the case in the exchange Ivanka had with the two visitors who were leaving the building, The Times reported.
The paper said defense attorneys involved in the case said the emphasis on the 2016 meeting is part of a focus by Mueller on possible obstruction of justice by Trump and several of his closest advisers, rather than for collusion with the Russians.
Naturally, liberal ideologues seized on the chance encounter at an elevator to smear Ivanka Trump:
Mueller now investigating Ivanka’s role in the infamous Trump Tower meeting.
Those who proposed Ivanka would be a force for good have to be feeling pretty dumb right about now.
