President Trump just went straight for the jugular.
The president took to Twitter late Thursday to blast Breitbart chairman and former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon, who was quoted as making negative comments about President Trump and his family in excerpts from an upcoming book.

President Trump lashed out at the book’s author, Michael Wolff, and referred to Bannon as “Sloppy Steve.”
“I authorized Zero access to White House (actually turned him down many times) for author of phony book!” the president wrote. “I never spoke to him for book. Full of lies, misrepresentations and sources that don’t exist. Look at this guy’s past and watch what happens to him and Sloppy Steve!”
The Breitbart head incurred the president’s ire with several quotes he allegedly provided for the book “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.”

The remarks cast the president’s family in a negative light, and included the statement that Donald Trump, Jr.’s meeting with a Russian lawyer during the 2016 election was “treasonous.”
“Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad s**t, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately,” Bannon said of the meeting.
James Comey stole four FBI “classified” documents and the info was leaked to the NY Times: Report
President Trump’s call to “look at [author Michael Wolff’s] past seemingly alluded to allegations that the writer lacks credibility.
Two Washington Post reports cast doubt on Wolff’s reliability, describing an incident in which “Wolff kept his bankers at bay by fabricating a story about his father-in-law having open-heart surgery.”
Post reporter Paul Fahri called Wolff a “provocateur and media polemicist, Wolff has a penchant for stirring up an argument and pushing the facts as far as they’ll go, and sometimes further than they can tolerate, according to his critics.”

One of the articles also noted that Wolff’s book claimed President Trump did not know who former House Speaker John Boehner was–even though the president mentioned him several times on the campaign trail and golfed with him in the past.
Seems like I took this photo yesterday of @SpeakerBoehner & NYC Businessman @realDonaldTrump, out for a round of golf & many laughs together, back in 2013.
Claims of President Trump not knowing who John Boehner was, when they’ve known each other for a long time, are 100% FALSE! pic.twitter.com/D0iDXvpxbx

The president’s lawyers sent Bannon a cease and desist letter on Wednesday.
“On behalf of our clients, legal notice was issued today to Stephen K. Bannon, that his actions of communicating with author Michael Wolff regarding an upcoming book give rise to numerous legal claims including defamation by libel and slander, and breach of his written confidentiality and non-disparagement agreement with our clients,” the letter read. “Legal action is imminent.“
President Trump himself spoke out against Bannon when the quotes were first published. In an official White House statement, the president said the former aide “lost his mind” when he was “fired.”

Other prominent figures took aim at Bannon, including White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
Donald Trump, Jr. called the former ally a “backstabbing” “opportunist.”
Steve had the honor of working in the White House & serving the country. Unfortunately, he squandered that privilege & turned that opportunity into a nightmare of backstabbing, harassing, leaking, lying & undermining the President. Steve is not a strategist, he is an opportunist

Andrew Breitbart would be ashamed of the division and lies Steve Bannon is spreading!

In response to the controversy, Bannon said on the radio show “Breitbart News Tonight” that President Trump “is a great man. You know I support him day in and day out.”
Will that be enough for Bannon to recover? Once the president has give you a nickname, you know things are bad.
