If a blatantly left-wing movie can’t hold the attention of a CNN anchor, you know there’s a problem.
On Tuesday night’s edition of the “Late Show,” Anderson Cooper confessed to Stephen Colbert that he walked out of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” before making it half-way through the film.
“I walked out,” admitted Cooper, who said he left the theater after the first 45 minutes. “I know, I know. I’m sorry.”
After provoking the audience’s surprise, Cooper clarified that he didn’t walk out because he disliked the film.
“I had a lot going on, I have a lot of work to do,” he stressed. “It wasn’t a protest. I’m going to go see it again. I just had too much in my head.”
Colbert poked fun at the CNN icon. “You paid money, walked in, and it occurred to you in the middle of the movie, ‘I don’t have time for this?'”
“Yeah, about 45 minutes in, I was like, ‘I’m not giving this the attention it deserves,'” Cooper replied.
The “Late Show” host jokingly compared Cooper’s experience to putting a pause on sex over a lack of motivation.
“It’s like if you’re making love to someone,” Colbert quipped. “In the middle of it you go, ‘you know what? I’m not giving this my all. I should come back–let’s put a pin in this, let’s table this for a moment, so that I can give full focus.'”
The latest entry in the “Star Wars” franchise has received a mixed response. Many fans have voiced concerns with the film’s alleged left-wing political themes.
The film was more of a left wing political statement than a sw story. SW is escapism no need to reflect the western liberal agenda. Why make rey a Mary sue?A great female lead still needs a story like in game of thrones. All previous interesting plot points were thrown in the bin

It died after The Empire Strikes Back. After The Revenge of the Sith, it became polluted with left wing nonsense.
Star Wars is dead.

That is the last star wars film I watch. What a way to screw up a huge franchise. All questions from previous film irrelevant but diversity and left wing propganda front and centre, you doing ghost busters 2 next?

Other fans have criticized the movie’s plot and writing, with particular focus on the characterization of Luke Skywalker.
The movie was a terrible mess, went against the previous movies and was plaged by ideological propaganda but the worst was the portrayal of luke #NotMyLuke

I feel like someone just ran a lightsaber through my childhood…. #notmylukeskywalker — watching Star Wars: The Last Jedi

It’s absolutely awful and insulting they gave such a sad and disastrous end to the characters of the Original Trilogy. They destroyed Luke Skywalker. Mark Hamill did everything he could with Rian Johnson’s crappy script, though. #NotMyLuke #DisneyRuinedStarWars #TheLastJedi

Why did #StarWarsTheLastJedi
have to destroy the image of whole generation’s heroes in order to clear the way for the next?
Maybe I read it wrong, but I felt Luke was done down. #LukeSkywalker is better than this.#NotMyStarWars#NotMyLuke— Bill (@CultTVGuy) December 18, 2017
Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill expressed dissatisfaction with how the script depicted the legendary character, although he later apologized for publicly voicing his disagreements with director Rian Johnson.
Liberals really do ruin everything they touch–including beloved sci-fi franchises.
