‘It’s OK momma, just be happy’: Colorado deputy's toddler comforts her tearful mother at vigil

The wife of fallen Douglas County, Colorado deputy Zackari Parrish spoke to a crowd of attendees who came to honor her husband at a candlelight vigil Monday night.

Gracie Parrish spoke at Mission Hills Church in Littleton with her youngest daughter in arms. Parrish was comforted by her four-year-old daughter as she delivered the emotional address.

“It’s OK momma, it’s OK,” the young girl whispered in her grieving mother’s ear, the Daily Mail reported. “Just be happy.”

In her remarks, Parrish promised to honor her slain husband.

“I will do everything in my power, Zack Parrish, to honor you,” she said. “And I will raise these girls to love you.”

Zackari Parrish, 29, was killed on Sunday during a deadly ambush while responding to a verbal disturbance call.

Four other officers and two civilians were shot at the scene before the suspect, Matthew Riehl, was killed by a joint task force unit, WFMY reports. Only Parrish sustained fatal injuries.

Riehl live-streamed the moments leading up to the deadly confrontation on Periscope. The Iraq War veteran called the authorities himself, and was heard telling the deputes “go away, go away! Don’t come in! I’ve warned you. Identify… What’s your name?’ as several shots were fired.

The suspect fired 100 rounds at police. In another Periscope video posted an hour before the shooting began, Riehl complained about his roommate.

“I thought we were lovers … are you kicking me out?” he asked. He went on to say, “I’m sorry, maybe I bought over 1,000 rounds of ammunition at Walmart. It’s not illegal. So if anybody bothers me, that’s why I’ve had a couple scotches.”

Riehld called law enforcement twice on Sunday, with the second visit to his residence resulting in tragedy.

The shooter had previously made a video in which he vowed to unseat the local sheriff.

Authorities are still investigating how the altercation and firing began.
